The Junior League’s annual Home Roam on Saturday celebrates Durham’s history with a viewing of beautifully designed and thoughtfully renovated mid-century modern houses in Duke Forest.

Durham and the Rise of the Baseball Card – Thursday, 11am – Adam Berenbak and Emily Thorpe, two curators of the dual exhibit at the Museum of Durham History and the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, talk baseball cards and the importance of the exhibit at the DBAP.

Artist Conversation: Elliott Hundley – Thursday, 6-8pm – Join a lively discussion about the artist’s innovative use of materials in large-scale collages at the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University.

It’s A Dance Party!  Thursday, 7pm – The American Dance Festival hosts its second annual pre-season celebration at The Rickhouse, complete with dinner, dancing, wine and beer, and surprise performances.

Lee Smith – Thursday, 7pm – “The New York Times” best-selling author Lee Smith will read from her memoir, “Dimestore: A Writer’s Life”, at The Regulator Bookshop.

A Night with Janis Joplin – Thursday, 7:30pm – Explore the inspirations behind rock ‘n’ roll legend Janis Joplin at the Durham Performing Arts Center with Tony-nominated Mary Bridget Davies, who “The New York Times” says “rocks the house!”

H.M.S. Pinafore – Thursday-Saturday, 8pm, Sunday, 2pm – The Durham Savoyards present this popular comedic operetta at The Carolina Theatre, telling the story of a British Navy Captain’s daughter falling in love with a sailor in his crew.

Baseball Card Bash – Friday, 5-8pm – The Museum of Durham History kicks off the “Durham and the Rise of the Baseball Card” exhibit with live music by Tea Cup Gin, hot dogs courtesy of Joe’s Diner Food Truck and even an appearance by Wool E. Bull.

Third Friday Durham – Friday, 5-10pm – With 19 venues participating this month, this city-wide event is not to be missed. Explore downtown galleries, studios, shops and music venues.

“Alton Brown Live: Eat Your Science” – Friday, 5:30 and 8:30pm – The follow-up to the smash “Edible Inevitable” tour, fans can expect more comedy, talk show antics, multimedia presentations and music (yes, he sings), with a slew of fresh ingredients including new puppets, songs and bigger – and potentially more dangerous – experiments.

#AwesomeSlice – Friday, 7:30pm and 9pm – Beer and pie could possibly be the best combination ever if you know how to pair them. Lucky for you, Fullsteam Brewery and East Durham Pie Co. have teamed up to make that dream come true with a three-course tasting.

Bull City Blues – Friday, 8pm – Welcome to Bull City PD! From Common Ground Theatre comes a serial improv show about the cops of Bull City.

Lauren Desberg – Friday, 8pm – The singer cannot be confined to a single genre; she combines jazz with popular music and lyrics and will only be at Beyu Caffe for one night, so don’t miss out!

Durham Roots Farmers Market Grand Opening – Saturday, 8am-noon – This new farmers’ market at Northgate Mall features local vendors including Architectural Trees, Bull City Farm, Prodigal Farm and many more!

Junior League Home Roam Tour – Saturday, 10am-3pm – The annual Home Roam celebrates Durham’s history with a viewing of beautifully designed and thoughtfully renovated mid-century modern houses in Duke Forest.

A Taste of Hillsborough – Saturday, 10am-4pm – The Hillsborough Arts Council is hosting this free event on the lawn of the Orange County Visitor’s Center, where there will be more than 37 craft vendors as well as food, beer, wine, ice cream and music to enjoy.

DIY Fest – Saturday, 11am-5pm – Kick off the 25th anniversary of The Scrap Exchange with a celebration dedicated to the do-it-yourself attitude that has led to creative reuse in Durham for years.

Co-op’s Anniversary Party – Saturday, 1-9pm – If you like free samples, then don’t miss the Durham Co-op Market‘s first birthday celebration including tons of bites from local vendors, sales on wine and more.

Ciompi Concert No. 4 featuring Edgar Meyer – Saturday, 2pm – The Ciompi Quartet concludes its celebration of 50 years in residence at Duke University with a concert featuring former students as well as bassist and composer Edgar Meyer performing one of his own pieces at Baldwin Auditorium.

Celtic Woman – Saturday, 7:30pm – The multiplatinum Irish music sensation presents this new show and world concert tour featuring many songs from the forthcoming “Destiny” CD and DVD, including timeless Irish traditional and contemporary standards.

Charlie Hunter & Scott Amendola Duo – Saturday, 8pm and 10pm – Guitarist Charlie Hunter and drummer Scott Amendola come to Beyu Caffe to explore the music of Duke Ellington, Hank Williams and more.

Party Illegal – Saturday, 10pm – The Pinhook welcomes DJs from four Southern cities: Charlotte, Raleigh, Myrtle Beach and Durham — for an evening of the most genre-bending dance music.

Disco Brunch – Sunday, noon-3pm – Spice up your brunch with live DJ sets bumping all morning long at The Durham Hotel as well as a tropical punch bowl drink special and your last chance to purchase Moogfest tickets at the student price.

The Fork Less Traveled – Sunday, 5:30pm – SEEDS presents this dinner series that pairs Durham chefs with local farms; for this event, Chef Flip of KoKyu BBQ presents “Spring has Sprung” with bountiful spring ingredients.

“Let the Music Play” – Sunday, 6-8:30pm – This is a standard Flower Show at the Sheraton Imperial and Convention Center with 36 design exhibits, horticulture exhibits and special exhibits entered by amateur exhibitors from all over North Carolina and other states and judged by nationally accredited Flower Show judges.

Cash’d Out – Sunday, 8pm – This band’s reverence for the music of Johnny Cash appeals to fans of all ages and all genres; see them perform live at Motorco Music Hall!
