
ACC Baseball Championship – Thursday-Sunday – Twelve ACC Baseball teams will play at Durham Bulls Athletic Park with three games each on Tuesday-Friday, culminating in two semi-final games on Saturday and a Championship game on Sunday.
Celebrating Nature Exhibit – Through Saturday, 3pm – Featuring botanical drawings from Preston Montague, wildlife photography from Ricky Davis and pottery from Liz Kelly, this exhibit at Horse and Buggy Press and Friends shows various depictions of nature. This is the last weekend of the exhibit.
Crucial Fiya – Thursday, 6:30-8:30pm – Come out to the Down Under Patio (adjacent to Tyler’s Taproom) at American Tobacco Campus for a night of soulful music from the reggae and R&B band.
Jazz Jam Sessions on the Roof – Thursday, 7-10pm – Prime your weekend on the roof of The Durham Hotel, where Al Strong Music & Friends gather for a weekly jam session. Come with an instrument or just stop by for a drink and listen to the tunes.
Space is the Place – Thursday, 7pm (grilling); 8pm (movie) – Watch the classic Afrofuturist movie at Shadowbox Studio with hot dogs and other grilled foodstuffs.
Robbie Fulks – Thursday, 8pm– One of the preeminent voices in folk music performs at Motorco Music Hall.
Thinking Outside the Box: Film and Hip-Hop – Thursday, 7-9pm – Join this discussion at Playground Studios, hosted by the Beats n Bars Festival, about filmmakers’ contributions to the music genre.
Durham Dance Wave – Friday, 7:30-9pm; Sunday, 11:11am-12:45pm – Experience authentic self-expression in a safe space free of judgment & instruction. This weekly ecstatic dance event takes place at the Living Arts Collective near downtown.
“Wakey, Wakey” – Thursday and Friday, 8:15pm – Manbites Dog Theater presents its final production of the current season with a stirring performance of Will Eno’s existential work about the sorrows and joys of life.
May Arts Night – Friday, 5pm – Hosted by the Durham Arts Council, the evening will feature work from more than 100 local artists, including art from young Triangle artists, Durham Arts Council students and instructors, and a pop-up gallery of work from the current Durham Convention Center exhibit.
Emily Musolino – Friday, 7pm and 9pm – Enjoy the soulful vocals and shredding blues rock guitar riffs of this Durham native at Beyú Caffé.
Secret Society Show and Improv Jam – Friday, 8-9:30pm – Take in the season finale of this collaboration of two local improv teams at Monkey Bottom Collective.
Audio Under the Stars – Connections: Lost and Found – Friday, 8-10pm – Hosted by Duke‘s Center of Documentary Studies, come hear different stories about friendships, bonds and allegiances, and what can happen when those ties come undone.
Jamie McClean Band – Friday, 9pm – This Southern bluesy rock group brings its talents to The Blue Note Grill. Come witness the band that “Jambase” says has “the rock and roll swagger of the Rolling Stones combined with the songwriting prowess of Ryan Adams.”
“Crazy Italian Night”” – Friday, 9-11pm – Bring your picnic blankets to Durham Central Park and watch this Italian tribute, the first show of Durham Cinematheque‘s “Movies in the Park” summer season.
Diggin’ in the Crates – Friday, 10pm-2am – Revel in a night of drink, R&B and hip-hop at The Vault at the Palace International.
Habitat ReStore Repurpose Workshop – Saturday, 10am-1pm – Learn how to makeover a chair with paint and upholstery in a workshop at Habitat for Humanity Restore. All proceeds go towards Habitat for Humanity’s efforts in Durham and Orange Counties.
Annual Memorial Day Remembrance – Saturday, 10am-4pm; Sunday, 10am-3pm – Visit the Bennett Place State Historic Site to pay respects to fallen soldiers throughout the years; this Memorial Day celebration stems from the post-Civil War “Decoration Day” and includes military historians portraying soldiers from each era of our nation’s history. Special traveling exhibit “Profiles of Honor” will be on display both days.
Community Fencing Class – Saturday, 1:30-2:30pm – Fancy a feint, or prefer a parry? Mid-South Fencing Club has both for you at a free class that will introduce key concepts of the sport to newcomers.
SEEDS Pie Social – Sunday, noon-4pm – Hosted by Fullsteam, this event will feature scrumptious pie and beer in addition to information about SEEDS’ fall growing plans. For every slice of pie you purchase you’ll be entered into a raffle for a set of tickets to a Durham Bulls game. Proceeds from the social will go to SEEDS educational garden programming for Durham youth.
Summer Movie Series – Sunday, 8pm – Enjoy beer and $1 snacks while watching “Fantastic Mr. Fox” at Ponysaurus Brewing.
Orquesta GarDel – Sunday, 3:30-6pm – Take part in some social salsa dancing at the Living Arts Collective (LAC) as part of a collaboration between Orquesta GarDel and LAC.
