William Paul Thomas Artist Lecture – Thursday, 6-8pm – Listen to this painter, photographer and videographer speak on his ongoing exploration of the human condition and complex representations of people of color at 21c Museum Hotel Durham.

Winemaker Dinner – Thursday, 7pm – Join winemaker and proprietor of Domaine de la Charite, Christophe Coste, at Littler Durham for a four-course dinner and wine pairing.

Light Bag/Slight Baggage Soft Opening – Thursday, 7-9pm – See the drawings of Tedd Anderson and Logan Britt at The Carrack. All pieces represent the artists’ experiences during a six-month excursion in which they left home with only one bag and limited art supplies.

Brother Ali Building Bridges: Muslims in America – Thursday, 8pm – The albino and legally blind rapper funnels elements of his distinctive identity into increasingly profound verses and pairs feverish calls for social justice with candid admissions about his own mental fragility at this Duke Performances event at Motorco Music Hall.

Empty Bowls – Thursday, 6-8pm – Pick out a locally crafted bowl to take home and sample soups created by chefs from Bull City Restaurants at the Durham Convention Center. The fundraiser supports Urban Ministries of Durham.

Nevermore Film Festival – Friday-Sunday – This film festival, held at The Carolina Theatre, was founded in 1999, and showcases films from narrative features to shorts that span the spectrum of horror, science fiction, mystery, thriller, and action adventure. The program has gained an international reputation as one of the premier genre festivals in the U.S., so order a big tub of popcorn and enjoy the suspense!

The Old Ceremony – Friday, 7pm – The Durham-based rock band returns to Arcana performing music off their latest album, “Sprinter.”

Love and Science Venue Showcase – Friday, 7-9pm – The Museum of Life and Science shows off its event spaces and allows guests to connect with vendors from the Triangle to plan your upcoming event. The showcase will feature menu samples, complimentary bar service and interactive fun with exhibits and programs.

Sesame Street Live –  Friday, 10:30am and 6pm; Saturday, 10:30am and 2:30pm and 8pm; Sunday, 2pm – Dance and sing with familiar favorites like Elmo, Cookie Monster and Big Bird during this interactive show at the Durham Performing Arts Center.

Sixth Annual Duke CRUSH Colorectal Cancer 5K Run/Walk – Saturday, 8am – Honor and celebrate those touched by colorectal cancer and support Duke Colorectal Cancer research, community outreach and education by running or walking in the Duke Multidisciplinary Gastrointestinal Cancers Program’s annual 5K. Race registration and starting line is at The Shops at Northgate, and the race itself winds through the Watts-Hillandale area.

Shop 2nd Saturday Downtown Durham – Saturday, 9am-5pm – Plan to get your weekend shopping done downtown, as many stores will offer unique programming and specials in this shop local celebration. Look for the banners to visit participating shops, and check individual listings for hours.

Spring Cleaning Sale – Saturday, 10am-6pm – Stock up on decor, jewelry, bags, chocolate and holiday merchandise for sale at One World Market.

2019 Craft Cider Tasting Experience – Saturday, 1-6pm – Sample various ciders that are available in the area and learn about the state of cider and its history during a discussion led by Mattie Beason at The Glass Jug Beer Lab.

Latin Passions – Saturday, 3-5pm – The Mallarmé Chamber Players perform melodies of traditional European, Cuban and South American Latin cultures in the style of evocative chamber music at the Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

Inflatable Day at the Park – Saturday, 3-7pm – Spend your afternoon at Durham Central Park with fun inflatables, zorb balls, music, food trucks and much more. All proceeds will go toward funding the Northgate Carousel relocation and transition.

Smallpools – Saturday, 8pm – This chart-topping indie rock band kicks off their “So Social Tour” at Motorco Music Hall. Opening performances feature the female-fronted alternative-pop quintet, New Dialogue, and Bel Heir.

Pop As Anti-Power – Sunday, 2-3pm – Explore political works in Pop América and how they were used to reject the influence of the United States, commercialism and government at the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University.

Durham Vegan Bake Sale – Sunday, 2-4pm – Snack on vegan and gluten-free baked goods at Fullsteam Brewery to benefit Prison Books Collective. Donate softcover dictionaries, Western, urban fiction and true crime books as part of the accompanying book drive.

ZenFish Two-Year Anniversary Party – Sunday, 11am-9pm – Get 15% off poké and 50% off beers at ZenFish in celebration of their second anniversary.
