Seeing is Believing – Friday, 6-10pm – This immersive Third Friday event at Augmentality Labs explores how virtual reality and augmented reality are changing the entertainment and education industry.
Bottle Cap Art – Friday, 6:30-8:30pm – Head to The Scrap Exchange for the popular “Scrappy Hour.” This week, participants will create one-of-a-kind pieces of art from bottle caps. Food, materials and creative inspiration will be provided, but participants should BYOB to this Third Friday event.
Abe Reid and Harvey Dalton Arnold – Friday, 8:30-11pm – Blues guitarist Harvey Dalton Arnold, formerly of ’70s Southern rock band the Outlaws, and fellow blues musician Abe Reid take the stage at The Bullpen. $1 of every draft pint goes to benefit the Music Maker Relief Foundation and their mission to support and sustain traditional American roots musicians.
Heather Gillis – Friday, 9-11pm – Whether you like rock, jazz, soul, roots or gospel, head to The Blue Note Grill this Friday to hear a band that everyone will enjoy. A guitar player, lap steel player, songwriter, singer and arranger, Heather’s live shows are energetic and consist of her original music as well as other notable songs.
Creek Week – Saturday–March 24 – This 10th annual week celebrates the protection and cleaning of Durham’s local streams with events like a Duke Forest Watershed Walk and Ellerbe Creek Canoe Cleanup. To date, volunteers have collected 117,270 pounds of litter during this environmentally aware event.
Children’s Festival – Saturday, 11am-3pm – Bring the kids this St. Patty’s Day weekend to Northgate Mall for a free, fun-filled day with food and entertainment at this seventh annual festival. Proceeds from the event benefit the Durham Arts Council. Featuring performances by Paperhand Puppet Intervention, Bouncing Bulldogs, Walltown Children’s Theatre and more, there will also be face-painting, music by DJ PiddiPat and Balloon Lady Donna Pruett.
UMD Day – Saturday, 11am-7pm – For the sixth year in a row, Vert & Vogue will be donating 20% of sales to Urban Ministries of Durham to provide food, shelter and a future to our neighbors in need. The store will also accept some of UMD’s most needed items, including bras, deodorant and shaving cream.
Book Sale – Saturday, noon-4pm – Friends of the Durham Library, a nonprofit that helps the Durham County Library fund programs, services and materials, hosts a book sale this Saturday at Books Among Friends. They will also be hosting a $10 bag sale on Sunday.
Barley Labs Grand Opening – Saturday noon-10pm – St. Patrick’s Day is going to the dogs. Barley Labs and its newly opened dog-focused bottle and gift shop holds its grand opening event that will include food trucks, adoption events and a silent auction.

Slow Ryed Cider Release – Saturday, noon-midnight – To celebrate its anniversary month, Bull City Ciderworks releases five new ciders throughout March. On St. Patrick’s Day, they will release a cider aged on American oak whiskey spirals from Blue Ridge Distilling that is sure to delight cider lovers and whiskey lovers alike. They will also roll out a rolling out a scavenger hunt and cider Jell-O shots!
Goat Flow Yoga – Saturday, 3:30-4:30pm – Have you ever wanted to find your inner balance alongside adorable goats? Come to Hux Family Farm this weekend!
