Each week, we share – through pictures – what the folks behind Durham Mag have been doing around town. We’re always out and about, just because we love this place; we hope you’ll comment with what you’ve been doing, too!

The Carolina Theatre

Carolina TheatreYou can always count on The Carolina Theatre to host the coolest concerts, comedy shows and many other presentations, like Ghost Hunters Live! Senior Associate Editor Amanda MacLaren, who’s a fan of the SyFy program, kicked off the Halloween season with this fun and interactive talk featuring a couple of the show’s stars.

The Little Dipper

The Little DipperWednesday is Ladies’ Night at The Little Dipper in Brightleaf Square! Bring your friends and share cheese and chocolate for the table for $9 per person.

Mesa Latin Kitchen

Mesa Latin KitchenThese simple chicken tacos at Mesa Latin Kitchen are made extraordinary with delicious homemade tortillas and a side of salty plantain chips.

Luna Rotisserie and Empanadas

Luna RotisserieLooking for a new cozy dinner spot as we head into the colder months? Amanda highly recommends Luna Rotisserie and Empanadas

Luna Rotisserie and Empanadas

Luna… and not just for the warm atmosphere and friendly service. This patacon pisao (blackened, pulled Freebird chicken is covered in a citrus herb simmer sauce and sandwiched between two large, fried plantain discs) and pimento hominy “mac” and cheese were packed with flavor. Amanda’s planning a return trip for the chorizo empanadas and spicy bacon collards.

NOSH

NoshCreative Director Kevin Brown‘s favorite meal of the week is brunch,so he knows where to find the best brunch cocktails, like NOSH‘s delightful sangria.
