Cocoa Cinnamon IIWe’re loving the brand-new, art-filled Cocoa Cinnamon location on Hillsborough Road!

Screen Shot 2016-02-09 at 11.06.19 AMVP of Content Andrea Griffith Cash headed to DPAC Friday for the Next Women of Country tour. Man, Jennifer Nettles has quite a set of pipes!

Screen Shot 2016-02-09 at 11.04.39 AMThe real draw of the concert for Andrea was hearing Brandy Clark perform. If you haven’t listened to her album, “12 Stories,” you must check it out!

Screen Shot 2016-02-09 at 10.58.45 AMBiscuit or doughnut from Rise? Thankfully Assistant Editor Jessica Stringer didn’t have to make the tough call — and got both!

TasuManaging editor Amanda MacLaren and her friends grabbed dinner at Tasu in Brier Creek last week — it’s the perfect midpoint when you’re meeting with people coming from both Durham and Raleigh. She went with the Philly Roll and N.C. Sunset Roll (obviously a cream cheese lover!).

GuasacaIf you have yet to try the new Guasaca location in Erwin Square, you better get here fast! The arepas are phenomenal — the vegetarian and chicken options are a couple of our favorites — and you can customize each item to your tastes.

Joe Van GoghWe’re so grateful to have a Joe Van Gogh close by — it’s perfect for when you decide to move your afternoon meeting to a coffee shop!

Heavenly BuffaloesThis small shack on Markham Avenue is home to some big flavors — whether you like boneless or bone-in, Heavenly Buffaloes is guaranteed to have a wing flavor you’ll enjoy. And don’t forget a side of waffle fries!

PicnicAmanda got a first taste of Picnic — the new barbecue joint off of Cole Mill Road — last week. She was impressed by the beautiful pulled pork, stellar sides and some of the best fried chicken she’s had. Bonus: The service is super friendly! Read more about Picnic in our review of this new hot spot.

PonysaurusThere have been a couple mild winter nights recently, perfect for enjoying a Ponysaurus Biere de Garde on the beer garden’s upstairs patio.

Cocoa Cinnamon2Prior to a volunteer outing at the Durham Branch of Food Bank of Central & Eastern N.C., Amanda fueled up at the new Cocoa Cinnamon location with a “Lion in the Sun” latte, sweetened with housemade date syrup, vanilla beans, cardamom and rose water.
