‘It May Be Hot, but So Is This Wine!’

251010If you are the type who hopefully plunks down good money on an upscale Chardonnay, only to find it short of your expectations, rejoice at the 2013 vintage! It was nigh perfect in Sonoma and Napa Valley, and one needs to move quickly as this vintage begins to sell out. Made from grapes from the exciting region designated “Sonoma Coast,” Landmark Vineyards has made a gorgeous wine from two sites (San Giacomo and Rodgers Creek) that will do a deluxe summer meal proudly. Think Coquilles St. Jacques, Long Island Duckling or any cream-based dish, and here is your partner! It may be hot, but so is this wine!

2013 Chardonnay, Landmark Vineyards, Sonoma Coast $35 srp

Brilliant yellow to golden color. An opulent nose with lemon/lime curd, honeysuckle and honeyed apple/pear elements. It’s a steely, smoky bouquet but redolent with fruit. Flavors are seamless and creamy with lithe pear, almond and caramel notes. Balance is superb and a crisp finish keeps it refreshing. Can age a bit further but delicious as I write. Drink now-2020.
