Say goodbye to the old Gregoria’s Cuban Steakhouse. On July 3, the Hillsborough Road restaurant closed its doors to reopen as tapas-style Mesa Latin Kitchen on July 17. A renovation of the space offers a more modern look, including a custom cement-top bar, wood beam ceilings, new lighting fixtures and more. The total revamp of the restaurant is made complete with the addition of James Beard award-winning Chef Douglas Rodriguez, who has developed a new menu that offers a contemporary selection of authentic Latin small plates, entrées, desserts and craft cocktails, utilizing local ingredients whenever possible.

“The flavors and cooking techniques are straight from Latin America, and the menu is truly extraordinary,” says Mesa Latin Kitchen’s Owner Fares Hanna, who owned and operated Gregoria’s Kitchen and Gregoria’s Cuban Steakhouse and has partnered with Chef Rodriguez in this new venture. “Chef Rodriguez did an amazing job; people are really going to be floored by the unique taste combinations and beautiful presentations.”
Mesa Latin Kitchen officially opens to the public on Friday, July 17, at 4 p.m.; guests are invited to enjoy food and drink specials as well as live music on the patio throughout that weekend. Reservations can be made in advance by calling 919-973-2717 or by emailing moh@mesalatinkitchen.com.
