We’re celebrating the thriving entrepreneurial spirit of the Bull City with the stories of six originators who are developing big ideas, including Inspire Media Network‘s Chris Rosati, Art of Cool‘s Cicely Mitchell, Tommy Sowers of SoloPro, Jennings Brody of Parker & Otis and Chet Miller, Tom Ferguson of the Rise franchise and formerly of Durham Catering Co., and Rachel Pollard of Rounded Plate. We also spoke with Adam Klein, chief strategist at startup incubator American Underground, about the city’s enterprising prowess.
For Durham families, we’ve compiled a list of nine cold-weather activities to keep the kiddos entertained during the last few months of winter and also provided a directory of camps, so you can get a head start planning your child’s summer. You’ll also find the love story of the Bean Traders owners (it all began with coffee, fittingly) and an historically important Trinity Park home renovation.
And there’s even more: Events and community editor Dana Lange shares how members of our aging population have found a second home at the Durham Center for Senior Life; we’ve launched two new departments — “Noted,” in which we share all kinds of news we’ve heard around town, and “Shop Local” with a few of our favorite Bull City products; and we go behind the music with The Pinkerton Raid. We also share our latest Durham obsessions — Bottle 501 and Bull City Cigar Co. — as well as the 10 events you can’t miss in February and March, the lamb special at Parizade and Ponysaurus‘ “beer for keeping,” the Biere de Garde.
The magazine, which is complimentary, can be found on newsstands at Sam’s Quik Shop, Whole Foods, The Regulator Bookshop, Parker & Otis, Foster’s Market, Guglhupf, Toast and many other locations.
We’d love to know what you think of our February/March 2016 issue – send us a note and stay in touch with us via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
