We’re ecstatic to present our 50th issue to you. Our city has experienced a tremendous amount of growth since we launched in 2008, and we felt it was important to look back at the strides we’ve made together as a community to bring Durham to where it stands today. And we’re still moving forward at full speed, with more restaurants and downtown residents, new hotels, an ever-expanding start-up scene and many other projects on the horizon.
The magazine is changing, too – we think for the better! You might have noticed that this issue is an inch wider, a permanent change that we hope will improve our readers’ experience.
In addition to highlights from our first 49 issues, February/March features include:
- Catching up with some of our subjects from over the years
- 50 issues, by the numbers
- Q-and-As with Mayor Bill Bell and American Tobacco Campus’ Michael Goodmon
- A collection of staff photographer Briana Brough’s favorite shots
- The Soundtrack of My Life – With hometown parade band the Bulltown Strutters
- Class Act – SarahBelle Selig, published novelist
- Stuff We Like – A Beer, BBQ & Blues event; the Art of Cool Festival; Tre Bella’s new boutique
- The Durham Difference – Alex Denson, advocate for the homeless
- The Dish – Guglhupf’s rabbit stew
- The Drink – A flight from Bull City Ciderworks
- Five events you can’t miss, weddings and engagements, our comprehensive dining guide and more
As always, let us know what you think about the issue – you can stay in touch with us via Twitter, Facebook, email, Pinterest, Google+ and Instagram.
The February/March 2015 issue, which is complimentary, can be found on newsstands at Sam’s Quik Shop, Whole Foods, The Regulator Bookshop, Parker and Otis, Foster’s Market, Guglhupf, Bull Street Gourmet & Market and others.
