For local children in need of books, corporate rock ‘n’ rollers have stepped up to help. Eight bands will play at American Tobacco Campus Sept. 19 as part of Durham-based advertising agency’s McKinney’s 2015 Triangle Corporate Battle of the Bands. All proceeds raised from the event will benefit Book Harvest, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing books to low-income children in the Triangle.

The Triangle Corporate Battle of the Bands is in its ninth year and has raised more than $850,000 to date for local charity organizations such as NC Arts in Action, East Durham Children’s Initiative and Kidznotes. Book Harvest, this year’s organization, was started in 2011 and has provided more than 320,000 new and gently used books to local children in need.

“The Battle of the Bands is a phenomenal opportunity for all of us at Book Harvest to share our story widely,” says Ginger Young, Book Harvest founder and executive director. “Every dollar raised through sponsorships, VIP tables and ticket sales will translate into big stacks of books, cozy bedtime stories and the opportunity to spark a lifelong love of reading for our community’s kids in need.”

The performances will start at 7pm at the American Tobacco Campus Amphitheater. Join in this fun-filled night of rock ‘n’ roll and rallying for a good cause, with musical performances from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina‘s Reply All; Cormetech‘s Clean Air Cats; Duke University‘s Mona Lisa’s Highway Blues; Durham Academy‘s The Substitutes; Elster Solutions‘ Killa Wattz; McKinney’s Blackwell; Metametrics‘ The Psycho Metrics; and SunTrust‘s The Shine

Tickets are $25 for individuals or $10 with a student ID. For more information about purchasing tickets or a VIP table, visit trianglebattle.com. And be sure to follow Triangle Corporate Battle of the Bands on Twitter at @trianglebattle.
