Rose is a super smart, playful and affectionate girl with lots of fun energy! She loves to learn, eat lots of yummy treats, and get lots and lots of affection. Rose also enjoys playing and chasing a ball or toy. Rose loves when the volunteers take her on walks to the play yard so that she can run and jump in the pool they have at APS. Rose often gets overstimulated and has shown a lot of aggression toward other dogs. She’s been at the shelter for quite some time, and, during her most recent stay, since Sept. 6. Rose would do best in a single-dog home with kids that are over the age of 10. Rose would benefit from calming exercises and learning basic manners because she’s still so young and has lots more to learn! Rose needs someone who will take another chance on her and let her show her true sweet, but wild, side! Meet Rose today at APS of Durham and find out if she’s the right fit for you.

Adoption fees for dogs and puppies typically range from $125-$175. This includes a basic medical exam and behavioral assessment, spay or neuter surgery, microchip implantation, rabies and other vaccinations, intestinal parasite check (with treatment, control and prevention), a heart worm test and deworming.

The Animal Protection Society of Durham, located at 2117 E. Club Blvd., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been helping animals in the community since 1970, and has managed the Durham County Animal Shelter since 1990. In addition to county funding, APS relies on donations from individuals and corporations to feed, shelter and provide medical attention for the nearly 7,000 stray, surrendered and abused animals it cares for each year. The shelter is open Mon.-Tue. and Thu.-Fri., 10:30am-5pm; Wed. 10:30am-6pm; and Sat. 10am-2pm. For more information, call 919-560-0640 or visit
