Ten miles east of Rutherford in the Napa Valley is Priest Ranch. On a 2.7 acre plot, winemaker Craig Becker makes about 1,000 cases per year of Grenache Blanc, a grape better known for being used in blends throughout the Rhône Valley of France. On its own, this white is radically different from any other you may have tasted. A big, expressive wine that will breathe new life into the routine Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc drinker. This is a remarkable effort with which to amaze your friends.

Copper-tinged yellow color. Round, big-boned, expansive, extremely attractive nose of ripe melon, banana and full summer florals. Its sensual creaminess will beguile you. Flavors are rich and chunky, resembling honeyed peach, yet replete with excellent acidity and grip. Long, seamless finish that would accompany a New England chowder, lobster bisque or Chicken Kiev beautifully. Drink now-2017
