‘Depeche Mode: Spirits in the Forest’ – Thursday, 7pm – Screening at The Carolina Theatre, this film captures the exhilarating performances and long-lasting impact of Depeche Mode’s Global Spirit Tour, in which the band played for over three million fans.
Artist Talk – Thursday, 7-8pm – Listen to artist Jeffrey Gibson at the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University as he discusses his works featured in recent exhibitions at the Nasher including, “Cosmic Rhythm Vibrations” and “Art for a New Understanding: Native American Voices, 1950s to Now.”
Kip Moore – Thursday, 8pm – The country singer-songwriter will perform his “Room to Spare” acoustic tour, with special guest Devin Dawson at The Carolina Theatre.
Songs from the Road Band – Thursday, 8pm – Listen to the North Carolina-based musical group perform a range of pieces, from bluegrass to Americana and jazz at Motorco Music Hall.
44th Anniversary Persian Carpet Sale – Thursday-Sunday – Bargain hunt at The Persian Carpet’s annual carpet sale, featuring rugs of all sizes marked 30-75% off their original price.
Tinkering Family Workshops: Lights, Circuits, Action! – Friday, 1-3pm, and Saturday, 10am-noon, 1-3pm – Learn the mechanics of electricity and how to create illuminated art at the Museum of Life and Science. This hands-on workshop teaches both adults and kids alike about the science behind lights, computers and everyday household electronics.

‘Mekko’ – Friday, 7-8:30pm – Co-sponsored by the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University and complimenting the exhibit, “Art for a New Understanding: Native Voices, 1950s to Now,” the film “Mekko” is screening at the Rubenstein Arts Center. The film combines Native American legends with the tension of a thriller to depict the life of a Native American man released from prison after 19 years.
Bid Your Face Off – Friday, 7-9pm – Pick up the clippers for a good cause at Fullsteam Brewery’s annual fundraiser benefiting the Movember Foundation USA and Duke Cancer Institute. Facial hair is on the auction block with local barber Pedro Williams of Arrow.
Charles Tolliver Live in Concert – Friday, 7:30-9pm – North Carolina Central University’s Jazz Ensemble will perform at B.N. Duke Auditorium with the renowned jazz trumpeter, who is known for hits such as “Emperor March: Live at the Blue Note” and “With Love.”
‘Com Truise’ – Friday, 8pm – The electronic musician will perform his self-described style of “mid-fi synth-wave, slow-motion funk” at Motorco Music Hall, with supporting acts from altopalo and Beshken.
Aaron Neville – Friday, 8pm – The R&B artist comes to The Carolina Theatre to perform old works and new, including hits from his most recent album, “Apache.”
Sylvan Esso – Friday and Saturday, 8pm – The Durham natives and Grammy Award-nominated duo make the last stop on their select, four-city tour at DPAC.
NCZoukFest – Friday-Sunday – Celebrate and learn about Brazilian Zouk Dance at the Living Arts Collective. The festival features three days of workshops and yoga from world-renowned Zouk dancers.
24th Annual American Indian Heritage Celebration – Saturday – View the work of Native North American artists that chart the development of indigenous art in North America at the North Carolina Museum of History with the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University. On Saturday, join Marshall N. Price, curator of modern and contemporary art at the Nasher, for conversation about the exhibit at 2:10pm.
Durham Roots Farmers’ Market – Saturday, 9am-noon – Visit this local farmers market for its last day of the season at Brightleaf Square.
Holiday Pop-Up! Market – Saturday, 10am-4pm – Sip on craft beer and browse a variety of local vendors at Hi-Wire Brewing’s seasonal pop-up market where a portion of proceeds benefit the Lakewood YMCA.

Tails at Twilight Gala – Saturday, 6pm – The Animal Protection Society of Durham hosts its annual gala at the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club. It will feature a cocktail reception, silent and live auctions, a three-course dinner and a live band. The event benefits the nonprofit, which works to end pet homelessness.

Off Minor: A Tribute to Thelonious Monk – Saturday, 7:30-9pm – Listen to local jazz artists as they reinterpret the sounds of North Carolina native and legendary musician Thelonius Monk at the Hayti Heritage Center. Part of the proceeds from this tribute concert go toward a jazz scholarship for high school students.
Sam Bush – Saturday, 8pm – Listen to the mandolinist and, as some believe, the originator of progressive bluegrass music at The Carolina Theatre.
Kenny G – Sunday, 7:30pm – The Grammy Award-winning saxophonist, known for topping the pop, R&B and jazz charts during the 1980s and ’90s, takes the stage at DPAC.
