
Tour de Pork 2019 – Through July 31 – This summer, join Firsthand Foods as it showcases the many pasture-raised pork dishes at local restaurants. Dine at 15 participating restaurants in June and July, and track your progress online and in your “Passpork” as you try nearly every part of the pig. Don’t forget to snap a photo of your dish and post it to Instagram with the hashtag #tourdepork for your chance to win a $100 gift certificate to a Tour de Pork restaurant of your choice, among other prizes.

Lavender Mead Release – Thursday, 4-5pm – Stop by the Honeygirl Meadery tasting room this weekend to grab a bottle of Lavender Mead made with fresh, local lavender from Sunshine Lavender Farm.
“White” – Thursday, 7:30pm; Friday and Saturday, 8pm; Sunday, 2pm – Bulldog Ensemble Theater presents this work by James Ijames and directed by JaMeeka Holloway-Burrell, a raucous comedy about art and identity – with a shocking twist ending – takes places at the Durham Fruit and Produce Company. It features Jordan Clifton, Monet Noelle Marshall, A.C. Donohue and Raely Qui.
Darrell Scott – Thursday, 8pm – This singer-songwriter performs at The Blue Note Grill following an opening act from Me & David Burney. Tickets are available online – $30 for standing and $35 for seated.

National Donut Day Beach Bash – Friday, 7am-9pm – Celebrate the beginning of summer and National Donut Day with Duck Donuts. On Friday, every customer will receive one free bare, cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar donut, in-store only with no purchase necessary.
ADF Ruby Fridays: Murielle Elizéon & Tommy Noonan – Friday, noon-1pm – American Dance Festival hosts this series at the Rubenstein Arts Center, where the public can engage with ADF choreographers and dancers over lunch in the Ruby Lounge. ‘Swingin’ at Minnie Tee’s’ – Friday, 6-8pm – Dive into the past with students of St. Sya Academy who wrote, choreographed and designed this show set during the Harlem Renaissance period. “Swingin’ at Minnie Tee’s” is the story of the Avon Lady who also loved to dance, and is hosted at Hayti Heritage Center.
Name Change Reveal Party – Friday, 6-8pm – The One World Market Board of Directors has voted to change the name of the store in order to expand the reach of its fair-trade mission and end the confusion customers often have with the franchise World Market stores. The new name will be announced at this event – enjoy treats from Zweli’s Kitchen and raise a glass at 6:30pm as Mayor Steve Schewel unveils the new name and logo.
Family Feud Live: Celebrity Edition – Friday, 7pm – Last Comic Standing’s Alonzo Bodden hosts this version of the popular TV game show at The Carolina Theatre. Grocery Store Joe from “Bachelor in Paradise” and “Dancing with the Stars” will lead one team while former U.S. Olympic gymnast and Tony-nominated actress Cathy Rigby leads the other. Guests will be randomly selected from the audience to become a member of these celebrities’ families for the night.
Mark Farina with Tomas C – Friday, 8pm – Mark, a trailblazing DJ and producer, will join Tomas C on the Motorco Music Hall stage for a night of dance music.
Cross-Triangle Greenway Ride – Saturday, 9am-3pm – Celebrate the East Coast Greenway‘s most complete metropolitan stretch with a scenic, recreational ride from Durham through Cary to Raleigh – all on protected greenways – on June 8. Forty-mile and 25-mile options are available for cyclists of all ability levels. The 40-mile option starts at 9 a.m. at SouthPoint Crossing Trailhead and the 25-mile option starts at 11 a.m. at Bond Park.
Lost to the Loop – Saturday, 10am – Visit the Museum of Durham History for a walking tour of downtown. The tour will highlight how construction through time has affected downtown, both physically and economically. Explore Bull City in a new way, and learn about the unique architecture and businesses this city once housed.
‘Lights, Camera, Action!’ – Saturday, 10am – Starpath Dance Academy presents its sixth annual recital – “Lights, Camera, Action!” – at The Carolina Theatre. This Hollywood-themed show features dancers ages 2-18, and each dance will highlight the music of a beloved movie, musical or television show.

Countdown to Launch – Saturday, 10am-5pm – Join the Museum of Life and Science for an “out-of-this-world” day celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. This family-friendly event features hands-on aerospace activities, local space enthusiasts and NASA/JPL ambassadors and the chance to explore the universe in the museum’s StarLab dome.
Juneteenth at Stagville – Saturday, noon-5pm – Celebrate emancipation and explore stories of the struggle for freedom in 1865. Learn how the history of slavery and emancipation in the state shaped Durham. Hosted by Historic Stagville, this event includes storytelling, local history and more.
Grand Opening of Page Point Animal Hospital and Pet Resort – Saturday, 2-5pm – This grand opening promises an afternoon of food, fun and fur for kids, adults and animals. Come out for a tour of the facility, free raffle and discounted services.
Festival of Life – Saturday, 10am-7pm; Sunday, 10am-6pm – This free, two-day wellness convention takes place at the Durham Armory and showcases vendors selling items and services to enrich your body, mind and soul. The event will focus on shopping local and highlight small businesses in Durham and the surrounding area.
Rock the Park – Saturday, 6-8pm – Durham Parks and Recreation hosts this movie and concert series in the city’s public parks. This summer’s band lineup includes Dwayne Jordan Quartet – who performs this Saturday at Duke Park – Ras Medy and Jazziando. A variety of family-friendly movies will be shown, and the series wraps up with a screening of “Bull Durham” in Durham Central Park on Aug. 17.
Celebrating Dance in Durham – Saturday, 3pm – The Durham Arts Council hosts this theatrical performance featuring the NC Arts In Action’s LEAP Team, a group of alumni and current in-school program dancers ages 9-15.
Purple Note Durham: Celebrating the Life of Prince Through Jazz – Saturday, 7:30pm – Music by The X Men, Shelby J and others will fill the Motorco Music Hall, remembering the life and legacy of Prince. Presented by The Sol Kitchen. A ticket to this performance includes admission to the after-party, A King & A Prince, starting at 10pm.
