As the dog days of summer set in, we’re all looking for a weekend respite. Here are some ways to chill out in the summer heat.

ReAwakening Exhibition – Through September 27 – This art exhibition hosted by Golden Belt artists displays artwork created in the last three months by regional artists. The art featured will be for sale unless marked otherwise.
Music in Your Gardens: Shirlette Ammons – Wednesday, 7-8pm – Part of an eight-week online concert series showcasing Durham artists, this event, hosted by Duke Performances, broadcasts a recorded performance by musician and poet Shirlette Ammons on its website and YouTube page.
Virtual RTPfit: Meditation – Thursday, 11:45am-12:15pm – Hosted as part of Frontier RTP’s weekly wellness series, this Thursday’s session, “Increased Focus and Productivity,” requires a yoga mat and a quiet place to relax.
Unlikely Alliances – Thursday, 8-9:30pm – Featuring a collaboration among storytellers from The Monti and musicians from the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle, this virtual event can be livestreamed using a link sent to your inbox.
Brown Bag: Climate Change and Circular Economy – Friday, noon-12:45pm – Hosted by Circular Triangle over Zoom, this event features speaker Don Addu, Southeast director for Citizens Climate Lobby, and focuses on the connection between climate change and circular economy.
Together We Stand NC Rally – Friday, 4-7pm – Hosted at Ponysaurus Brewing Co., this rally aims to educate the community on diversity and inclusion through shared conversations.
Durham Craft Market – Saturday, 8am-noon – This weekly craft market features 10 local arts and crafts vendors, which will be set up 10 feet apart to encourage social distancing. Located next to the Durham Farmers Market, the craft market gives people an opportunity to shop for locally made art while also learning about the artists’ process.
House of Coxx Virtual Hen House Show – Saturday, 8pm – Hosted by The Pinhook, this show features a bedtime story hour and an adult show starting at 9pm. The show will be livestreamed on The Pinhook’s website.
Sunday Fun-Day! – Sunday, noon – Hosted by Pour Taproom, this event includes games, coloring, food and drinks, and kids eat free all day long.
Reggae on the Rooftop – Sunday, noon-5 pm – This event at Unscripted Durham, for adults 21 and older, features reggae music from DJ Algoriddim and Selector B Steady.
Movies by Movers – Sunday, 2-3pm – Hosted by the American Dance Festival, this event spans the weeks between June 15 and July 26 and shares several free-to-watch movies by local artists. Starting at 2pm on Sunday, viewers can participate in conversation with the artists through Zoom.
