Goses & Beermosas Flight Night – Thursday, 4 – 10pm – Come enjoy short pours of Durty Bull Brewing Company‘s new release, the Key Lime Gose, as well as Phased Out Dark Gose and its new beermosa offerings with the heavily fruited Sippy Cup Wheat Ales and Orange-Rosemary Sour Ale as the bases.

Konversations: The ‘Heart’ of Storytelling – Thursday, 6:30 – 8:30pm – In this Konversation, Kompleks Creative’s principal and creative director Tobias Rose sits down with local filmmaker Saleem Reshamwala to talk about story-framing, execution and inspiration; as well as the responsibility that comes with being a storyteller.

North Carolina Summer Opera presents Mozart’s ‘Don Giovanni’– Thursday, 7 – 10pm – Sung in Italian with English translations, this semi-staged production at Bethel Christian Center with Orchestra Conductor Shelley Livingston and Stage Director Rachel Snapp tells the story of a nobleman, Don Giovanni, who takes great pride in his ability to seduce women. But then his victims outwit him when they conspire to confront him.

Indie Noir Summer Series with Eryk Pruitt and Katy Munger – Thursday, 7pm – Eryk will lead a discussion with “Unlawful Acts” crime reviewer David Nemeth at The Regulator Bookshop. This event will also be a celebration of the launch of Katy’s newest book, “Fire and Rain.”  Other books to be discussed are “Cry Father” or “Pike” by Benjamin Whitmer and “Bluebird Bluebird” by Attica Locke.

Parker & Otis Paper – Friday-Saturday, 10am-3pm – This restaurant and gift shop will be selling some of its signature stationary goods at the PopUp @ American Tobacco Campus (runs through Aug. 28).

Brewery Bhavana Tap Takeover – Friday, 4pm – midnight – Head to The Roof at The Durham as Brewery Bhavana take over taps with five of their slow-fermented, wood-aged beers and special magnums for sampling. 

S.E. Rochelle Exhibit Opening – Friday, 6–8pm – Museum of Durham History celebrates the opening of this community-curated exhibit that examines the life of Sidney Edgar “S.E.” Rochelle, a veteran, an entrepreneur and motorcycle enthusiast who was born and raised in Durham. This exhibit will run through September 2.

Barley Labs Run Club– Friday, 6:15pm – Barley Labs welcomes all paces, and there are distances ranging from 1.5 to 5.7 miles. After running, there will be brews from one of Barley’s 16 taps; they also have wine and non-alcoholic options like kombucha.

PLAYlist Concert Series: New Reveille w/ Raleigh Rockers – Friday, 7 – 9pm – Durham Central Park plays host to a performance featuring breakdance crew Raleigh Rockers, who will be opening for Raleigh’s alt-country band New Reveille with Amy Kamm on lead vocals, Daniel Cook on banjo and guitar, George Hage on guitar, Autumn Brand on violin and Kaitlin Grady on cello.

‘This Gun for Hir’e & ‘The Narrow Margin’– Friday, 7 11:30pm Retro Film Series hosts the 1942 movie duo featuring Frank Tuttle’s “This Gun for Hire” and Richard Fleischer’s “The Narrow Margin” at The Carolina Theatre.

The Beat Market – Friday, 7:30-11:30pm – Curated by Durham Beat, this night art market at Fullsteam features an array of local artisans and a lineup of live, local musicians.

Arrival From Sweden The Music of ABBA – Friday, 8pm –  This show features the sounds of Sweden’s biggest music export ever – with almost 400 million records sold – ABBA, at the Durham Performing Arts Center. It has all the markings of a great ABBA performance: lovely costumes, talented musicians and breathtaking singers who will bring the sensational pop hits of this group to life on stage. 

Nolia Swap – Saturday, 8-11am – A kid’s clothes, toys and school supplies exchange – bring good quality, gently-used kid’s clothes, toys and school supplies during regular business hours at Nolia Coffee until Friday, then come and meet other parents and get great items instead of having to buy them while enjoying some coffee.

Shop 2nd Saturday Downtown Durham – Saturday, 9am-5pm – Plan to get your weekend shopping done downtown, as many stores will offer unique programming and specials in this shop local celebration. Look for the banners to visit participating shops, and check individual listings for hours.

SLOW ART TOUR: ‘Christian Marclay, Surround Sounds’ – Saturday, 11am – noon –  Kate Newman will be the Nasher Museum at Duke University Gallery Guide on this tour focusing on ‘Christian Marclay, Surround Sounds,’ a large-scale, synchronized, silent video installation that consists of animated onomatopoeias projected onto four walls of a darkened room

Reggae on the Roof –  Saturday, noon – 5pm – Selector B Steady and DJ Algoriddim spin classic reggae on vinyl at The Patio at Unscripted. This event is free and open to the public who are 21 and older. 

Nugget + Spruce End-of-Summer Bash! – Saturday, 3-6pm – Celebrate the end of summer with the debut of a new Nugget color (and free giveaway!), kid-friendly spaces designed by Spruce Creative Studio and crafts with The Scrap Exchange at Hi-Wire Brewing Co. All guests who RSVP will be entered into a raffle with prizes totaling more than $1,500.

Black August in the Park – Saturday, 4 – 10pm – Black August in the Park provides a space at Durham Central Park for people of all corners of the African diaspora and Black experience to connect with local and regional justice movements. Black August in the Park is also a place for all age groups to engage and have fun while also maintaining a family-friendly environment.

Rosé – Durham Wine Tasting Series – Saturday, 4 – midnight Bar Brunello presents this class for any Rosé-lover: Guests will explore Rosés of varying hues with distinct flavor profiles from around the globe.

Get the Led Out – Saturday, 8pm – This band captures the essence of the recorded music of Led Zeppelin and brings it to the concert stage at DPAC.

Tobacco Road Music Fest – Sunday, noon – 4pm This collaboration and a celebration of cultures showcases local musical entertainment and artists on the lawn of the American Tobacco Campus. Bring your lawn chair and blanket and sip on a glass of wine while you enjoy music of all genres. Vendors, including the Triangle Wine Company, Empress Jewelry, GTP Sports Memorabilia and more, will be on site. Food and drinks are available for purchase throughout the campus.

Fall WOW Event – Sunday, 1 – 5pm The Pennies for Change Thrift Store is hosts this event featuring the best of the best of their fall fashions. Light refreshments will be served. All proceeds benefit victims of domestic and sexual violence in Durham County.

APS Cat Adoption – Sunday, 1:30-3pm – Snuggle with adoptable cats from The Animal Protection Society of Durham at The Regulator Bookshop.

Super Hero Day – Sunday, 5:05pm – Marvel Super Hero Day is comes to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, complete with special Captain America jerseys for the team’s contest against the Indianapolis Indians. The special jerseys the team will wear will be auctioned off during the game, and all proceeds will benefit the Holt Brothers Foundation.
