‘Truth to Power 8’ – Through Aug. 30 – Pleiades Arts presents its eighth annual visual arts show co-juried by Angel Dozier and Cornelio Campos. Showcasing the work of 30 artists, the exhibit focuses on the impact of social racism on personal and societal levels. It also offers an online gallery guide, virtual salon events with artists and more.

RTP180: The Next Generation – Thursday, 6-7pm – Virtually join this conversation on a range of societal topics that will affect the next generation in the Triangle. How can we set our children up for success? What can be done now to ensure they become well-rounded, emotionally intelligent and connected individuals? Each of the five experts have only five minutes to share their perspective. Virtual doors open at 5:30pm for pre-show slides immediately before the show begins at 6pm. Use the hashtag #RTP180 to engage with others on social media.

Rock the Vote with Together We Stand – Friday, 4-7pm – In conjunction with Rock the Vote, Together We Stand hosts a voter registration event at Ponysaurus Brewing Co. Due to the challenges of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, any North Carolina voter is now eligible to request to vote by mail – this year, you can literally vote from your couch. Together We Stand will offer more information on how to request your ballot over beers at the taproom. At 5pm, Together We Stand also releases its new T-shirt. Designed with the importance of the upcoming 2020 elections in mind, shirts will be available for purchase at the event and online.

Flashback Friday – Friday, 5-10pm – Unscripted Durham kickstarts the weekend with Flashback Friday on The Patio. Your favorite DJs will take you back through the decades with ’80s, ’90s and 2000s songs.

Virtual Cinema Program – Friday – The Carolina Theatre releases four new films: “The August Virgin,” “Extra Innings,” “Son of the White Mare” and “Desert One.” Pre-ordered concessions can be picked up from 4-8pm. 

Virtual AfterHours: Beer 101 – Friday, 7-8:30pm – Partnering with a panel of beer experts, the Museum of Life and Science continues this educational (and fun!) beer experience from the comfort of your home with a specially crafted six-pack from Sam’s Bottle Shop. Each purchase includes beer swag, tasting notes and a gift from the museum. Plus, a portion of proceeds benefit the museum.

Chatham Rabbits Album Release – Friday, 8-11pm – Presented by The Carolina Theatre, the Chatham Rabbits livestream their album release from the Haw River Ballroom. Ticket holders will receive a link to view the livestream in real time and for a week after the show airs.

Food Truck Flix – Friday and Saturday, 8:30pm – Showing at the Frontier RTP, this drive-thru movie experience features “Edward Scissorhands” on Friday and the “Fantastic Four” on Saturday. Gates open at 6:30pm. Movie starts at 8:30pm. Click here to see which food trucks are present. Proceeds from the weekend benefit Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, a nonprofit that recovers and distributes food to low-income families and neighbors.

Minding My Black-Owned Business Pop Up Shop – Saturday, 4-7pm – Come out and support more than 40 local black-owned businesses at 1010 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy

Dine and Vibes – Saturday, 5-10pm – Unscripted Durham continues this weekly event with good food and music at its in-house restaurant and rooftop pool, The Patio.

Reggae on the Rooftop – Sunday, noon-5pm – Wind down the weekend poolside at Unscripted Durham and enjoy some classic reggae tunes with DJ Algoriddim and Selector B Steady. Free and open to the public, 21 and older. Make your reservations here.
