Local moving company Two Men and a Truck showcased their love for animals with the first annual Movers for Mutts campaign. They recently hosted a re-opening party at their new Durham location at 1816 S. Briggs Ave. and celebrated the success of the charity initiative, which raised more than $14,000 for the Animal Protection Society of Durham. The event included a puppy parade and an adoption drive in addition to presenting a check for the funds raised to APS of Durham Executive Director Shafonda Davis.
“We’re speechless,” Shafonda said. “This has meant so much to us and the animals at the shelter.” In addition to the funds raised, the campaign helped adopt out 104 dogs in October, a 25% increase from last year. After the check presentation, Two Men and a Truck mascot Truckie led a ribbon “charging” ceremony, running through a classic red ribbon like it was the finish line.
After building seven Two Men and a Truck locations over the past 10 years, franchise owners Brooke and Les Wilson have “worked hard each and every day to earn our ‘movers who care’ reputation with our customers, our staff members and our local community partners.”
“We are proud to serve our community in every way,” Brooke continued, “from serving customers to creating jobs to supporting local nonprofits like the APS of Durham, and we are excited to build toward the next 10 years of success!”
