screen-shot-2016-10-23-at-9-21-57-pmLocal-made ingredients add a distinguishing flair to any meal. Pantries stocked with bottles and boxes accrued from small artisan food shops are revered for their beauty and variety of flavor. Yet high-quality items crafted by small-batch makers are often sold only in stores. Maintaining a comprehensive selection of artisan food products requires frequent trips out of town, or to individual websites. To solve this problem, Shayla Martin came up with a simple way to bring local vendors from across North Carolina into our kitchens.

Taste and See NC is a monthly subscription that delivers boxes filled with four to six specialty food items from different North Carolina cities to your doorstep. Items featured include sweet treats, snack foods, sauces, spices, oils, condiments, drink mixers and more. Through this monthly delivery, North Carolina residents are given an assorted taste of foods from communities throughout our state.

While supporting local vendors, Taste and See NC will also donate a portion of its sales to charities that alleviate childhood hunger within the city with food items are featured that month. A subscription not only adds diversity and quality to the flavors in your pantry, but also supports the future of North Carolina communities.

If you’re interested in supporting this service, Taste and See NC is currently raising funds through Indiegogo to cover startup costs, with early-bird incentives in return for a donation. These specials include a first box for only $35 or a set of three boxes at a discounted rate of $100. Products from our very own Durham vendors will be featured in the first box: Double M Bakeshop, Big Spoon Roasters, Ello Raw, Sangha Tea and Durham Toffee Company. Click here to learn more!

Following the campaign, and in time for holiday shopping, orders for the first shipment can be placed online starting December 5 and will close on January 15. Subscribers will receive their first box the following week. Purchase a subscription for yourself and indulge in the finer tastes of North Carolina, or treat a friend to these one-of-a-kind artisan food products.
