If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you know I frequently encourage you to live with less, simplify and keep (and do) only those things that bring you joy, cause you to laugh, create a feeling of warmth and make you feel like a rock star.
So it may come as a surprise that the Neat Freak would encourage you to spend your Saturday shopping for more stuff! However, I will make an exception for my favorite yard sale of the year, the ABC Sale (which stands for Attics, Basements & Closets). This Saturday, April 16, Chapel of the Cross at 304 E. Franklin St. in Chapel Hill, will hold their HUGE annual yard sale. Inside the church, you’ll find furniture, books by the bag, children’s clothing and toys, women and men’s clothing and accessories (including the famous “Boutique” room with designer brands), linens, kitchen items and a garden shop filled with plants. There is also the treasure room, holding jewelry, china, silver and fine art, plus fascinating antique riches and mid-century pieces at bargain prices.
The sale starts Saturday at 8 a.m. (people are typically lined up to gain entrance as early as 6 a.m.!) and goes until 2 p.m. I love the ABC Sale because it brings together the community, provides amazing goods at super low prices, and best of all, ALL of the proceeds go to support local charitable organizations such as Club Nova, IFC, Eyes, Ears, Nose & Paws, Habitat for Humanity, PORCH, Fuel Up Perry Harrison and more. Everybody wins.
You won’t go hungry while you shop, either. You can pick up a hot dog, chips, a drink and treats to help keep up your shopping stamina. Cash, check or credit cards can be used for all purchases.
No matter how hard I try to resist, I always find something amazing at the sale. So join me, this Saturday, April 16 between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m, at The Chapel of the Cross! I promise to return to my regularly scheduled Neat-Freaky self in my next post.
