Each week, we share – through pictures – what the folks behind Durham Mag have been doing around town. We’re always out and about, just because we love this place; we hope you’ll comment with what you’ve been doing, too!
Thai Cafe
Thai Cafe‘s Drunken Noodles make for a perfect weeknight meal when you don’t feel like cooking!
Small Batch Baking Company
Our office was in for a real treat when Durham-based Small Batch Baking Co. dropped by with a couple flavors of their snack-sized babka! You can find this specialty product on LoMo Market’s trucks and at Southern Season.
Parker and Otis
Shh, don’t tell Assistant Editor Jessica Stringer‘s best friend, but she picked out the perfect birthday card at Parker and Otis.
Parker and Otis
Great minds thing alike! Associate Editor Amanda MacLaren also visited Parker and Otis this past weekend for lunch with friends. She just can’t resist the pimento grilled cheese (get it with bacon!) and she always subs her coleslaw for the pesto pasta salad.
The Durham Hotel
On July 10, The Durham Hotel will open its mid-century doors!
The Little Dipper
Creative Director Kevin Brown took his wife out for fondue at The Little Dipper last week. Nice move, Kev!
Scratch
There’s no better time than now for a slice of blueberry-peach pie at Scratch.
Scratch
Everyone in the office is copying one another this week! Creative Director Kevin Brown also made it out to Scratch for this scrumptious-looking Eggs Benedict with a side of grits.
Watts-Hillandale Fourth of July
Associate Editor Amanda MacLaren‘s neighborhood has held a Fourth of July parade every year since a few children began riding their bikes down the block in the ’50s. The parade makes a loop around the neighborhood before ending in Oval Park, where patriotic choruses and lemonade stands keep the festivities going.
