Basan
Creative Director Kevin Brown snapped this pic of the beautiful sushi dish he ordered at Basan recently. Chef Toshio Sakamaki creates a lot more than sushi at the American Tobacco restaurant — in fact, every Sunday after 5pm, the chef comes up with a different specialty ramen dish for dinner that evening. Try them out next time instead of cooking Sunday supper!

Beer Durham is the perfect hangout for a beer after work. Sr. Associate Editor Amanda MacLaren celebrated National IPA Day a couple weeks back with this Deep River Brewing Co. White Lies IPA.
Fill That Bus
The Durham Magazine and Chapel Hill Magazine team did our part in collecting school supplies for Crayons2Calculators‘ Fill That Bus campaign to ensure local teachers have plenty of supplies for their classrooms when school begins. If you miss the drive, no worries — you can donate year-round!
Dress for Success Triangle
Amanda hit up the Dress for Success Excess Inventory Sale this past Saturday at Northgate Mall and came away with three new dresses perfect for the office. The sale, which helps support the organization’s mission to provide meaningful employment and economic security to unemployed and underemployed women by offering career-development tools, a network of support and professional attire, features items ranging from pants, skirts and tops to handbags, jewelry and shoes. The Brothers Vilgalys
The Brothers Vilgalys Spirits Company recently released four new liqueurs, including this Zaphod that contains starfruit, guava, mint, sage, lemongrass and peppercorns and is sweetened with raw cane sugar. Amanda picked up a bottle from the first batch at her local ABC store and followed the suggestion to simply combine it with sparkling water. It made for a super refreshing, herbal tea-like cocktail!
