Each week, we share – through pictures – what the folks behind Durham Mag have been doing around town. We’re always out and about, just because we love this place; we hope you’ll comment with what you’ve been doing, too!
Elmo’s Diner
One of Associate Editor Amanda MacLaren‘s go-to orders at Elmo’s (platinum winner of for Best Breakfast in our Best of Durham Awards!) is the spicy chilaquiles: corn tortillas mixed with a homemade sauce with cilantro, peppers, onions and spices, served with black beans, sour cream, feta cheese, diced tomatoes and fresh cilantro. On Sunday, they added chicken!
Hope Valley Country Club
HVCC has some killer sweet potato fries. The salty kind, hold the cinnamon.
Durham Bulls Birthday Parties
Creative Director Kevin Brown‘s son Cayden recently celebrated his 6th birthday at a Durham Bulls game. His smiling face says it all!
Bull Durham Beer
Kevin also got his first taste of Bull Durham Beer at the game. The cups are almost as cool as the beer itself! Almost.
G2B
It’s the height of tomato season! Naturally, we tried the tomato salad at G2B made with Chapel Hill Pheta and refreshing cucumber.
Rose’s Meat Market and Sweet Shop
On Friday, certain Triangle bakeries made cookies for a cause! 25% of the sales from the peanut butter whoopie pie — made with Big Spoon Peanut Butter — at Rose’s Meat Market and Sweet Shop went to Triangle Family Service to purchase school supplies.
Fullsteam Summer Basil
Wait your turn, pumpkin beer! We’re all about Fullsteam’s Summer Basil Farmhouse Ale.
Primal
The basil limeade at Primal takes a mojito recipe and replaces the mint with basil. We approve!
