We had a great time at Carolina Farm Trust‘s dinner at Vin Rouge supporting farmers from Durham Roots Farmers’ Market including Green Button Farm and Carolina Farmhouse Dairy. The two combined created a killer harrissa braised pork shank for our third course.
We were adventurous with shrimp at Piedmont‘s Season of the Sea dinner featuring Greensboro’s Jay Pierce from The Marshall Free House. The amuse-bouche – cleverly left off the menu – was a fried shrimp head. It was so yum!
After a grueling run with the Fullsteam Ahead! Run Club, Chapel Hill Magazine Executive Editor Jessica Stringer and friends treated themselves to a beer at The Federal.
We visited the new Motto for an interview and photographed and tasted some of their Ginger Flower cocktail (complete with whole candied hibiscus). The coolest thing about this drink? They have it on tap.
Kanki Restaurant is rolling out their new fall menu early next week, and so you’ll need to visit soon to try their sensational summer menu apps, like the tuna poké (above) and pork belly sliders (below) – they both have a great kick!
Creative Director Kevin Brown‘s perfect Labor Day recipe included tasty bites from Chirba Chirba Dumpling and OnlyBurger food trucks and sips from Bull City Ciderworks at a food truck rodeo!
Last week’s opening party for “Southern Accent,” the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University‘s newest exhibit, was incredible! It’s on view till Jan. 8, but you’ll want to come back multiple times to really take it all in.
Our creative director, Kevin Brown, spent his August birthday celebrating in Durham! First, there was a delectable dinner at M Sushi (above) …
… followed by a cocktail and sangria at Bar Virgile …
… and completed with a trip to downtown’s Rise the next day!
It was so cool seeing the child stars of Neflix’s hit series “Stranger Things” – created by The Duffer Brothers, who grew up in Durham – on Jimmy Fallon!
