Maui is a lovely calico with striking black and orange patches on her soft white coat. She’ll greet you with a soft meow and begin purring and rubbing her cheek on her door. This friendly, active girl is people-oriented and expects you to fall in love with her, and why wouldn’t you!? Maui is a happy young cat who will make a wonderful pet!

It’s kitten season and the shelter has so many cats and kittens looking for their forever homes! Adoption fees for cats and kittens are typically $95, which includes a basic wellness exam, spay or neuter surgery, microchip implantation, rabies and other vaccinations, and start off with one month of free pet insurance. The adoption fee for a second cat is just $50 when adopting two together.

The Animal Protection Society of Durham, located at 2117 E. Club Blvd. in Durham, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been helping animals in the community since 1970, and has managed the Durham County Animal Shelter since 1990. In addition to county funding, APS relies on donations from individuals and corporations to feed, shelter and provide medical attention for the nearly 7,000 stray, surrendered and abused animals it cares for each year.
