lovedurmCalling all Durhamites! If you’re in love with the Bull City, here’s an opportunity to display your affection for its people, places and businesses. As Valentine’s Day approaches, Durham residents are encouraged to take part in the first annual #loveDURM photo contest.

To participate, capture a moment that encapsulates just why you call Durham home and post this photo to social media using the hashtag #loveDURM. Whether its the person with whom you cross paths on American Tobacco Trail every weekend to the trail itself or the running store that supplies your running shoes, there are plenty of ways to proudly show off the side of our city that stole your heart. The #loveDURM photo contest is an opportunity to give Durham a little extra love this Valentine’s Day.

Share as many images as you would like on Instagram or Twitter with the #loveDURM hashtag, post on the #loveDURM Facebook page or submit your photos to the #loveDURM Tumblr blog. Then, head to the Museum of Durham History to check out many of your submitted photos in the community-curated exhibit that will be on display throughout the contest.

Post your photos from now until February 8 to be entered in the #loveDURM contest that will be decided by a panel of notable Durhamites, such as Mayor Bill Bell. The two-week event culminates with a celebration at the Museum of Durham History from 6-8pm on February 10. Enjoy food, sip on a custom-made cocktail by Alley Twenty Six and await the announcement of the winners of Valentine’s Day-themed prizes.

Don’t hesitate – start snapping photos of what characterizes love in the Bull City to you, and become part of our documented history!
