Fundraising Fashionably for a Cause

The second Annual Labor Day Weekend Fashion for a Cause show, presented by Iris Oliver at PSI Theatre at the Durham Arts Council, raised funds for cancer research, patient care and awareness. The show featured fashions from couture and emerging designers EvitaLoca, Rasoul Amir Designs, Lashele Lavey and Sonique Stephens. Special guest Dr. Nadine Barrett, director of the Office of Health Equity and Disparities at the Duke Cancer Institute, gave a speech on the importance of cancer research midway through the fashion show. All proceeds from the event benefit the Sisters Inspiring Sisters Incorporated (SISI), a charity that provides transportation assistance to cancer patients and their families.
