2016 Pinot Noir, Nanny Goat Vineyard, Central Otago $24 srp
Light, transparent garnet color. A rounded nose of rose petals, “sweet” summer berries, loamy earth and a tender sensation that fills the sinuses. It’s reminiscent of a sachet of spice! Flavors are light/medium bodied, smoothly textured and refined. Elements of strawberry, raspberry and rhubarb are balanced and refreshing with a bright tweak of end acidity. Needs a bit more substance on the palate to reach the next level, but this may be due to a less than stellar vintage. Regardless, it’s original, fun and a pleasure to consume. Drink now-2019.
