Taste the Event, our annual food festival, is back for its sixth year! New for 2019, the festival has moved from spring to early summer, with five delicious events from July 26-30. Also new for this year, we are featuring back-to-back Grand Taste Experiences. Read on for the scoop on this year’s festival schedule.

1. Wednesday, June 26, at the Durham Armory: Grand Taste Experience & Beer Garden

The Grand Taste Experience is the cornerstone of this festival’s lineup. It brings more than 30 local culinary professionals (ranging from chefs to distillers to chocolatiers) together for an unparalleled opportunity where local foodies can taste all the best dining options from across the Triangle under one roof. Guests also have the rare chance to meet the chefs and artisans who make our favorite culinary establishments possible. This year’s Grand Taste Experience will feature a craft beer garden in addition to wine and spirits. For tickets and the full list of participating establishments on Wednesday, click here.

2. Thursday, June 27, at the Durham Armory: Grand Taste Experience & Wine Garden

By popular demand, we are featuring two back-to-back nights of the Grand Taste Experience. The Thursday Grand Taste Experience will feature a different assortment of 30+ culinary professionals, plus a wine garden. 3. Friday, June 28, (Secret Location): Speakeasy Nightclub

Not just anyone can get into our Taste Speakeasy. Ticket buyers will be notified 48 hours before the event with the secret location and the password. Tell the right person the right password, and you’ll be snuck in through the back entrance, transported back in time with bootleggers, mobsters, bathtub gin and a New Orleans-style jazz band. Tickets get you all-inclusive access to cocktails by Alley Twenty Six, Don Julio, Ketel One, Tanqueray, and Bulleit with heavy hors d’oeuvres by Durham Catering Co. For tickets and more info, click here.

4. Saturday, June 29, at Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club: Six-Course Southern Feast Dinner

Take your tastebuds on an edible exploration of the South’s food heritage. All six courses will highlight the different ethnic elements that define our Southern food palate. Expect a diverse menu prepared by chefs from Washington Duke Inn, Vimala’s Curryblossom Cafe, Saltbox Seafood Joint, Goorsha, La Farm Bakery and The Parlour. Signature cocktails will be mixed by Kingfisher with Durham Distillery spirits. To elevate the evening further, ShaLeigh Dance Works will provide entertainment throughout the meal. 5. Sunday, June 30, at Clouds Brewing: Let There be Brunch!

The mother of all brunches caps off the Taste event schedule. Chefs from Vin Rouge, It’s a Southern Thing, Loaf and Clouds Brewing will each man their own stations to prepare signature sweet and savory brunch staples. Clouds Brewing will serve their finest craft beer, and no brunch event would be complete without Bloody Marys and Screwdrivers – so we have the folks at Bedlam Vodka preparing an over-the-top bar of your favorite daytime cocktails.
