A crowd of 1,100 hungry participants gathered at the Durham Convention Center for Urban Ministries of Durham‘s 10th annual Empty Bowls event. Many attendees picked out a locally crafted bowl to take home and sampled soups from 15 restaurants, including Bleu Olive, Bull City Burger and Brewery, Dashi, Luna Rostisserie & Empanadas and Mothers and Sons Trattoria. The judges awarded Croasdaile Village the winner, while Mad Hatter Cafe & Bakeshop took home the People’s Choice award. The event raised $103,000, which will be used by Urban Ministries of Durham to continue offering food, resources and shelter to those in need.
