Left Coast Cellars is a catchy name for this 350-acre contiguous plot of land in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Winemaker Joe Wright is a man after my own heart, a former wine retailer who caught the winemaking bug – and how! Left Coast is making flavorful wines at affordable prices – a recipe for much deserved success. Their Pinot Gris is grown on sandstone-based soil, where apple and pear orchards once flourished. The results are vibrantly alive.
2015 Left Coast Cellars The Orchards Pinot Gris $18 srp
Brilliant, white golden color. A rich nose of honeyed pineapple, spicy tropical fruit and ginger-dusted lemon/clementine cream. Flavors are lush, soft and sip-able, with elements of ripe apple and stone fruit emerging on the refreshing, but not totally dry, finish. Stainless steel fermented and aged, try this in the coming springtime, or while wishing for it! Swordfish, salmon or curried vegetables would all love this. Drink now.
