Meet Sunny! This 1-year-and-7-month-old dapper young man is playful and friendly. After he was found wandering in the Animal Protection Society of Durham‘s parking lot a few weeks ago, staff welcomed him into their program with open arms. Sunny is a sweet and affectionate boy with a passionate fan club around the shelter, and he deserves a soft bed in a home with kind humans. Sunny participated in many play groups with other dogs and was best suited to be around lower-key dogs. He can be a bit overexcited at first and needs a little time to warm up and feel comfortable, but overall, this guy is silly, easy to love and downright adorable. Visit Sunny’s webpage to learn more, and come meet him today!

October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month. To celebrate that, all dog adoption fees are $50!

The Animal Protection Society of Durham, located at 2117 E. Club Blvd., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been helping animals in the community since 1970, and has managed the Durham County Animal Shelter since 1990. In addition to county funding, APS relies on donations from individuals and corporations to feed, shelter and provide medical attention for the nearly 7,000 stray, surrendered and abused animals it cares for each year. APS of Durham is open to the public for adoptions and animal visitations. To set up a virtual visit or to adopt, send adoption forms to adopt@apsofdurham.org. Same-day adoptions are now available in the shelter. For more information, email adopt@apsofdurham.org.
