Meet Lalo the love bug! This sweet, endearing and wiggly girl has been through a lot in her life so far, and has been at the shelter since September 2022. You might notice Lalo is missing one of her legs, but that doesn’t stop her one bit. She’s just a cute three-legged girl who will bat her eyes and lean in for a good cuddle and rub any chance she gets. Lalo has learned a lot at APS, like how to be less reactive to other dogs and have nice leash manners. She’s even learned “sit” and “touch” commands. Lalo does well with other dogs and often joins in at play group, which has given her a lot of confidence. She does prefer gentle play, but again, her 3-year-old self is learning and growing each day! Lalo weighs about 45 pounds and really can’t wait to have a forever home.
Kids: 6+, gentle kids, a little worried by novel objects
Dogs: A little stiff, some friendly sniffing, slow/careful intros

The Animal Protection Society of Durham, located at 2117 E. Club Blvd., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been helping animals in the community since 1970, and has managed the Durham County Animal Shelter since 1990. In addition to county funding, APS relies on donations from individuals and corporations to feed, shelter and provide medical attention for the nearly 7,000 stray, surrendered and abused animals it cares for each year. The shelter is open by appointment only due to COVID-19. For more information, email adopt@apsofdurham.org.
