Georgie may have a serious face at first, but he’s as sweet as can be after you offer a treat and a pet. This 5-year-old pup is a gentle giant who appreciates affection, peanut butter and lots of love. He takes treats gently and then offers a strong head tilt, waiting for more to mysteriously drop from your pockets. Georgie has been at the Animal Protection Society of Durham since the beginning of July and is patiently waiting for someone to come and scoop him up. Once he stares into your soul with his dreamy eyes, there’s no turning back! Visit Georgie’s webpage to learn more and come meet this handsome guy today!

October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month. To celebrate that, all dog adoption fees are $50!

The Animal Protection Society of Durham, located at 2117 E. Club Blvd., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been helping animals in the community since 1970, and has managed the Durham County Animal Shelter since 1990. In addition to county funding, APS relies on donations from individuals and corporations to feed, shelter and provide medical attention for the nearly 7,000 stray, surrendered and abused animals it cares for each year. APS of Durham is open to the public for adoptions and animal visitations. To set up a virtual visit or to adopt, send adoption forms to adopt@apsofdurham.org. Same-day adoptions are now available in the shelter. For more information, email adopt@apsofdurham.org.
