The name Burrito does this brown tabby cat justice. A double-stuffed guy, queso on the side, with extra lettuce, who can’t wait to snuggle up next to you. Burrito lives by the motto, “If I fits, I sits, and if I don’t fits, I still sits.” He has a skill of fitting his body into small boxes and can’t wait to show you what else he can do. At just 5 years old, he is begging for you to come meet him at the Animal Protection Society of Durham. Visit Burrito’s webpage to learn more!
APS has cats available for adoption not only at its shelter, but also cats in foster care who are also looking for forever homes! If you’re interested in adoption, fill out an application and email it to adopt@apsofdurham.org. Due to the high volume of inquiries, please allow two-three business days for a reply.
APS is currently running an adoption special, thanks to Bissell Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters. All cats and dogs’ adoption fees are just $50. The adoption fee for cats and kittens is typically $95. This includes a basic medical exam and behavioral assessment, spay or neuter surgery, microchip implantation, rabies and other vaccinations, intestinal parasite check (with treatment, control and prevention), a heart worm test and deworming.
The Animal Protection Society of Durham, located at 2117 E. Club Blvd., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been helping animals in the community since 1970, and has managed the Durham County Animal Shelter since 1990. In addition to county funding, APS relies on donations from individuals and corporations to feed, shelter and provide medical attention for the nearly 7,000 stray, surrendered and abused animals it cares for each year. The shelter is open by appointment only due to COVID-19. For more information, email adopt@apsofdurham.org.
