Ferdinand is a curious and independent guy who loves to go for long walks and hikes, and tends to follow his nose. He does take his time getting to know new people, but once he does, he loves to just hang out with you. Come out to APS of Durham and meet him to see if he’s the right fit for your family!

Ferdinand’s adoption fee was waived so that he can find a wonderful home soon. To set up a virtual visit or to adopt, send adoption forms to adopt@apsofdurham.org. To view Ferdinand’s webpage, visit apsofdurham.org/dogs/ferdinand. Same-day adoptions are now available in the shelter.

Adoption fees for dogs and puppies typically range from $100-$175. This includes a basic medical exam, spay or neuter surgery, microchip implantation, rabies and other vaccinations, intestinal parasite check, a heartworm test and deworming.

The Animal Protection Society of Durham, located at 2117 E. Club Blvd., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been helping animals in the community since 1970, and has managed the Durham County Animal Shelter since 1990. In addition to county funding, APS relies on donations from individuals and corporations to feed, shelter and provide medical attention for the nearly 7,000 stray, surrendered and abused animals it cares for each year. The shelter is open Mon.-Tue. and Thu.-Fri., 10:30am-5pm; Wed. 10:30am-6pm; and Sat. 10am-2pm. For more information, call 919-560-0640 or visit www.apsofdurham.org.
