Film Screening of “Being You” @ The Hill Center

Join The Hill Center for a screening of the film titled “Being You”, which follows three young people with learning and attention issues, including Stephanie Whitham, as they travel the country to seek advice from TV host Howie Mandel, ice sculptor John Rodrigues, and many more who have transformed their learning and attention issues from a struggle into an asset. Following the screening, Stephanie Whitham will lead participants in a conversation and Q&A. Appropriate for ages 13+.

Stephanie Whitham grew up in La Canada, California. Stephanie was properly diagnosed with Nonverbal Processing Disorder in third grade after years of testing. Stephanie attended the University of San Francisco where she majored in Communication Studies with a minor in Fine Art. At USF Stephanie was a charter member of the Eta Upsilon chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta. Stephanie is now a National Program Coordinator at Eye to Eye National.

Film Festival Series: Once in a Lifetime @ Levin JCC

Based on a true story, the film chronicles the relationship of a teacher with teenagers who have long since dropped out of the school system. This teacher of Leon Blum high school at Creteil, decides to enter a national competition titled “Children and adolescents in the Nazi concentration camp system.” Initially tumultuous and frustrating, the atmosphere quickly evolves as they meet with a survivor of the camps and increasing intensity during a visit to a museum dedicated to this dark period of history. This experience will change their lives.

Once in a Lifetime is part of the Film Festival Series at the Levin JCC. The Levin JCC and Israel Center invite you to bring your family and friends to screen films educating and celebrating Jewish and Israeli community, culture, and history. Each month, our Film Festival Series will feature a new or older movie that highlights the work of Jewish directors, actors, and screenwriters. Some films may not be suited for all ages.

An uplifting drama-romance bringing together two disparate wounded souls, To Life! tells of the growing bond between an aging Polish-born cabaret singer and a young German man driven by a secret.
