Eat, drink and be merry! Octoberfest 7 is coming to downtown Durham. We are shutting down E Parrish street for our annual Octoberfest celebration to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity of Durham.

Join us for a family friendly event complete with live music, dancing, a kid’s play area, brats, burgers, pretzels, Octoberfest Mustard/Mushroom Fries, wine, beer and of course our BCBB Octoberfest beer. Our neighbors Littler Durham and The Atomic Fern will also be bringing the party. This year promises to be even bigger than last year so mark your calendar and get your liederhosen and dirndl ready!

Flash Chorus: Sing Sylvan Esso and Depeche Mode! @ Motorco

Do you sing in the shower, car, or kitchen? Then Flash Chorus is for you! Since 2015, people of all ages from all over the Triangle have been gathering at Durham’s Motorco Music Hall to make friends and learn pop songs with a live band. On Monday, September 25th our premiere event will feature Sylvan Esso’s song “Die Young,” paired with Depeche Mode’s 80s classic, “Enjoy the Silence”!

SCSJ’s 10th Anniversary Celebration @ The Cotton Room

Join the Southern Coalition for Social Justice as we celebrate ten successful years of voting rights and criminal justice reform throughout the American south. Enjoy a keynote from former Obama Administration civil rights attorney Vanita Gupta and performances by Bree Newsome and Carly Jones.

Can’t make the dinner? Join the Party for Justice at the same venue, starting at 9 PM. Tickets are $10/person with all proceeds benefiting SCSJ. There will be a performance by local Durham artist Defacto Thezpian.

Astronomy Series – Geminid Meteor Shower @ Valley Springs Park

The Geminid Meteor shower is the most
prolific meteor shower of the year with up to
120 meteors per hour. Valley Springs park has
less ambient light than most places in Durham,
making it perfect for lying on a blanket with a
cup hot chocolate and viewing the spectacle.
