Positive Impact for Kids 5K presented by Duke Health @ Southern Community Park
Dec 2 @ 1:00 pm – 2:45 pm

My name is Leanne Joyce and I am the 18-year-old President of the 501(c)(3) Positive Impact for Kids. I have raised over $100,000 and purchase items from pediatric hospital wish lists to improve the hospital experience for children and teens.

The Chapel Hill Police Department and Orange County Sheriff’s Office are partnering with Positive Impact for Kids to facilitate our second annual 5K (walk/run) fundraiser and Chase the Chief Fun Run for kids. Chief Chris Blue of the Chapel Hill Police Department will give the kids (age 12 and under) a one minute head start and then race them in a clock timed one mile run. All pre-registered fun run participants will receive a prize!

Top prizes will be presented to the 5K first, second, and third place male and female by Fleet Feet and Omega Sports. The 5K will start at 1pm and the fun run will start at 2:15pm. The 5K will be professionally chip timed and managed by Cardinal Race Services.

All proceeds will benefit Duke Children’s Hospital and UNC Children’s Hospital.

Triangle Veg Fest Holiday Market @ Durham Armory
Dec 3 @ 11:00 am – 3:00 pm

Triangle Veg Fest is hosting its first ever Holiday Market with over 50 vegan vendors and a silent auction at the Durham Armory, 220 Foster St, December 3rd from 11am to 3pm. Vendors will demo vegan products selling vegan merchandise and food for Holiday shoppers. Food vendors include Soul Cocina Triangle, Loma Linda Food Truck, Baozi Food Truck, Mozzarella Fellas, and more.

Sponsors are Whole Foods, AhiFlower, Triangle Vegetarian Society, Vegfund, and Healthy Eating and Living by Bronson Greene. This event will resemble past Veg Fests, the last of which attracted over 3,000 visitors to Downtown Durham.

A $5 suggested donation will be collected to go towards Triangle Vegfest. Since August’s Festival, Triangle Veg Fest has donated over $1,000 towards hurricane relief and to various animal sanctuaries. For more info check out www.trianglevegfest.com.
