10th Annual Corks for Kids @ The Cookery

UNC Children’s Hospital is hosting their 10th annual Corks for Kids event in partnership with the Chapel Hill Wine Company at The Cookery.

Since its inception, Corks for Kids has raised nearly $750,000 for UNC Children’s Hospital. Chapel Hill Wine Company owner Todd Wielar started the event in appreciation of the lifesaving care his child received years ago.

The event features more than 60 top wines from around the world, silent and live auctions, and fine local food – all benefiting a great cause.

Battle of the Blues 5K Fundraiser @ CM Herndon Park

The Battle of the Blues 5K Fundraiser and 1 mile walk takes place on the American Tobacco Trail at CM Herndon Park in Durham. It benefits the family advisory groups for the Newborn Intensive Care Units at Duke Children’s and UNC Children’s Hospitals. Race for your NICU baby or in memory of a loved one and raise money for a good cause!

The advisory groups are raising money to support the families that currently have a baby in the NICU. They provide meals for families; offer input and feedback on policies and procedures to doctors, nurses and support staff; host special events on holidays; provide supplies and gifts; and so much more!

If you’ve had a baby in the NICU or know someone who has, this event is for you! Join us for the 5K face or the 1 mile fun walk where strollers are welcome.

Girls on the Run of the Triangle Sweet 16 Community Walk & Talk featuring Kathrine Switzer @ The Frontier at Research Triangle Park

Girls on the Run of the Triangle celebrates 16 years of “lighting the way for girls across the Triangle!” with a Community Walk & Talk event featuring Kathrine Switzer. Switzer made sports history in 1967 when she was the first woman to register for and complete the Boston Marathon when it was still considered a men’s only event. Girls on the Run is character development and empowerment program for girls in 3rd – 8th grades that gives girls the tools to live a joyful, healthy and confident life and to unleash their limitless potential! Sonam Chorus – Singers of New Ancient Music Fall Concert @ First Presbyterian Church

Listen to beautiful music and help connect veterans with service dogs!
On Sunday November 13th, 2016 at 2:30 pm, SONAM will sing a concert on the themes of war and peace at First Presbyterian Church in Durham, NC. The hour-long concert will range from anguished laments to comforting blessings, featuring composers from Germany, Estonia, Spain, France, and the United States. A suggested $10 donation will benefit Vets to Vets United to support their work in partnering veterans with service dogs from local shelters. 8th Annual Beach Shack Boil Fundraiser @ The Rickhouse

Donald has been visiting The Fearrington Barn to spin his tales for over 20 years and is one of the foremost storytellers in the country. He has been featured at the World’s Fair, the Smithsonian Institution, the National Storytelling Festival, and as guest host on NPR’s “Good Evening.”
In lieu of admission, donations of canned goods to Chatham Outreach Alliance and gently used children’s books to Book Harvest will be accepted. This event fills up quick so get there early!
