The 2017 Triple-A National Champions take the field at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Their whopping 70-game season kicks off April 5 against the Charlotte Knights and continues through Labor Day. Celebrate opening day with some post- game fireworks (the first of 22 fireworks shows this season), and mark your calendars for the home Father’s Day game June 17 and Bark in the Park games April 11, May 16, June 13, July 25 and August 22.

Photography Summer Camp for Teens – Free Camera with Registration @ Durham School of the Arts

This one-of-a-kid, multi-day photography Summer Camp is part of a Summer-long camp series where students will attend 3 to 4 day photography camps in downtown Durham, NC.

Campers will learn how to use their cameras, make friends, create real-world photo projects and learn from a real photographer who has been teaching teenagers for over ten years!

Through-out the Summer there will be Basic Photography Summer Camps for Teens, Advanced Photography Summer Camps for Teens, YouTube Creator Camps for Teens and a Photography Summer Camp for Kids!

Five talented female choreographers present an evening of glorious solo dance. Camille A. Brown returns to ADF with a section from her latest work “ink.” “ink” celebrates the rituals, gestural vocabulary, and traditions that remain ingrained within the lineage of the African Diaspora and reclaims African-Americans’ narratives by showcasing their authenticity. Ragamala’s Aparna Ramaswamy, tap dancer and 2015 MacArthur Fellow Michelle Dorrance, street jazz choreographer Rhapsody James, and contemporary Chinese choreographer Yabin Wang will each present ADF-commissioned solos.

Yoga for Littles (Summertime Beach Theme)! @ Funny Girl Farm

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of your everyday routine and join us on the farm to relax with your child. Yoga can provide a wonderful means of connecting with your little one!

Our fun and playful beach-themed Yoga for Littles class will have you and your child stretching your way into seashore animal poses and surfing on your yoga mats (or beach towels!).

Yoga practitioner and mother of two, Liz Harden, is also health educator, family wellness consultant and sleep coach. She trained and became certified with Rainbow Kids Yoga in 2013 and has been teaching on the playground, in her living room, in schools and studios and on our real, working farm!

Following our half-hour yoga session parents may wish to remain in meditation, but kids are welcome to join Farmer Tara for fun water play. We will have sprinklers to cool us off, water tables for little ones and bubbles for everyone!

Thomas Rhyant’s Sam Cooke Soul Revue @ The Bullpen

Gospel singer Thomas Rhyant and his 3 piece band give the history and the music of the legendary Sam Cooke. Thomas grew up singing in a gospel quartet with his four brothers where he played guitar and learned to sing. With his tasteful guitar style and stunningly wide-ranging voice and enigmatic backing band, Thomas Rhyant brings joy to audiences while keeping the history of soul music alive.

Essential Oils for Health @ Bikram Yoga Durham

Scholastic Summer Reading Road Trip @ Burton Magnet Elementary School

Book Harvest and Scholastic are hosting the ultimate summer reading road trip event to celebrate “A Magical Summer of Reading.” In an effort to get kids reading this summer, the 2018 Scholastic Summer Reading Road Trip RV will offer kids and families the opportunity to participate in their very own “pop-up” reading festival and engage in fun reading activities.
