Pleiades Gallery in Durham presents WATERMARK – A Solo Exhibit by Dawn Hummer. Weaving is prominent in her work. In addition, she combines many traditional methods of hand-work from other cultures, resulting in a contemporary interpretation of dimensional texture. The pieces in this collection represent a broad spectrum of artful plays on the organic spirit and mystical voice of water and its influence over Dawn’s lifetime. The impetus for her work comes from an early immersion in the natural world while growing up in remote coastal Florida.
In addition, join us for FREESTYLE. Who knows what will happen when member artists respond to this boundless concept?

After graduating from Harvard College, Ann ran a teaching program in Thailand and worked for Save the Children in the Phanat Nikhom refugee camps. She has travelled throughout Southeast Asia and her first jewelry designs were created out of jade medallions and vintage glass stones found in a Shanghai antique market. She continues to use fine materials from Asia, South America and Africa in her work that is created by hand in Lyme, CT.
Ann Lightfoot will join us with a stunning collection of jewelry inspired by the raw, organic, natural materials with which she creates. Post-modern, elemental and feminine, each piece is resolutely handmade and deeply individual. Ann’s jewelry reflects her interest in other cultures and her time living and working abroad.
