How their basic form is treated or altered by an artist can profoundly affect these feelings. The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe @ Raleigh Little Theatre

The World in Watercolor – Art Exhibit by Marie Crock @ Hugh Mangum Museum of Photography - West Point on the Eno

Marie Crock is a native of Ohio, but she has called Durham home since 1968. While she has always been interested in the arts, it was in 2008 that she picked up her first watercolor paintbrush. Since then, she has used many techniques and styles in her paintings. For this exhibition, Crock will display works inspired by the nature that surrounds us.
The exhibit is open from 1pm-5pm Sundays and Saturdays.

La Farm Bakery’s Fall Baking Classes for Home Bakers @ La Farm Bakery

Lionel Vatinet introduces La Farm Bakery’s Fall Baking Classes, which offer a rare opportunity to learn to bake side-by-side with a Master Baker, in a hands-on format. Guests may take classes with Vatinet himself, and learn to bake everything from flatbreads to sourdough, as well as learn the intricacies of working with locally grown and milled grains from Carolina Ground and Anson Mills. Vatinet is also pleased to offer classes with visiting guest instructors French Master Baker and Consultant Dominique Homo and Harry Peemoeller, Senior Instructor at Johnson & Wales University, as well as La Farm Bakery’s Pastry Chef Jim Hinger. In each class, guests will taste a variety of breads or desserts, and will practice mixing, shaping and scoring breads, and will see them loaded into and out of the European hearth oven. Participants will take home recipes, doughs, breads (and often, starters!) to finish baking. Seating is limited for classes, which take place from 5:30 to 8:30pm at the Preston Corners location. Metal Stamping at Durty Bull @ Durty Bull Brewing Company

Adventures in Bloom will be bringing their talents to Durty Bull Brewery. Grab a friend and create something great! You can make earrings, necklaces, bracelets or keychains all with your personal design. Laura will guide you through the process of metal stamping to create your own, unique piece.

The cost of the class is $30.

The class includes one practice blank, one blank to stamp and a necklace chain, keyring, bracelet, or earrings to put your creation on. Lots of extra blanks and beads area available at an additional cost that can be paid at the time of the class.

Each class is capped at 15. If you plan on attending with a friend it is best to buy the tickets together. Classes fill up fast!

At our next Lobby Call event, culture critic Jessica Hopper sits down with long-time friend, Mac McCaughan to discuss everything from the early 90’s music scene to the #MuteRKelly movement and her latest book, Night Moves.

In Night Moves, Hopper delivers an edgy, exhilarating tribute to Chicago, friendship, and the music that ultimately formed her voice.
