The 2017 Triple-A National Champions take the field at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Their whopping 70-game season kicks off April 5 against the Charlotte Knights and continues through Labor Day. Celebrate opening day with some post- game fireworks (the first of 22 fireworks shows this season), and mark your calendars for the home Father’s Day game June 17 and Bark in the Park games April 11, May 16, June 13, July 25 and August 22.

Every April we celebrate exotic meats from around the country and the world. Here at Bull City Burger and Brewery, we never met a meat we wouldn’t eat, have you? April is your chance to try it all, from alligator to zebra tarantula and everything in between. During the month of April, Bull City Burger and Brewery hosts the Tarantula Challenge, to test the most daring of taste buds. Please join us for a full-day dementia caregiver conference, Tuesday, April 24th 2018, filled with education and resources.
• This conference, hosted by AlzNC, Ridgecrest Baptist Church and the Yates Baptist Association, will offer education about Alzheimer’s and dementia and will help those currently caring for loved ones, parishioners and neighbors, and those who simply want to learn more.
• The agenda will feature Melanie Bunn, RN, AlzNC and Lisa Gwyther, MSW, LCSW, Duke Family Support Program as keynote speakers. We will also have four educational breakout sessions, resource tables, food and caregiver networking.
• The Virtual Dementia Tour simulation will be offered by Spring Arbor Assisted Living.
• We strongly encourage those who are interested in attending to register today as our deadline is fast approaching.
The cost for families, clergy, students and volunteers is only $10.

Alzheimer’s North Carolina has been putting on educational sessions for caregivers for over 30 years. Our goal is to bring education, resources and support all to one place so that caregivers can get everything they need in one spot. Amber’s Ale is a sweet, hoppy, not obvious but clearly obvious, amber ale. Brewed with honey malts and citrus-forward hops that create floral, sweet aromas, this is a collaboration beer created by Black Star Line Brewing Co. and brewed by Ponysaurus Brewing Co. All profits of this beer will be donated to help rebuild Black Star Line Brewing Co. and support their craft beer movement.

DCRC Take Back the Night in Durham @ Alfonso Elder Student Union at NCCU

Durham, NC- Durham Crisis Response Center (DCRC) will host its fourth annual Take Back the Night march, rally and survivor speak-out from 6pm to 9pm on April 25, 2018. The public is invited, and admission is free. The event is being held in collaboration with North Carolina Central University and will start at the Alfonso Elder Student Union located at 1801 Fayetteville Street on their campus in Durham. Take Back the Night is a community-wide protest against sexual assault and violence. The theme selected by DCRC for this year’s event is #WETOO. As a community, #WETOO stand in solidarity with the many victims/survivors of sexual violence. #WETOO will support them in their healing, locating resources and create awareness.
