Bamboo Wind @ Durham Fruit Company
Jan 17 @ 7:00 pm

Bamboo Wind is a collaborative performance installation at The Fruit, Durham’s newest art space and creative warehouse complex.

Over 18 artists come together to create an evening of Dance, Photography, Sculpture and Poetry based on the Seven Canto Poem, Bamboo Wind.

Bamboo Wind is a story of longing and desire, a love story, set in a mythical bamboo forest, conceived and produced by poet and sculptor Coke Ariail, choreographed by ShaLeigh Comerford, with photographic explorations and exhibitions by noted local photographers Catharine Carter, Lynne Feiss Necrason, & Wojtek Wojdynski, and with original music composed and played by Robbie Link.

Bamboo Wind will create a forest of traditionally lashed bamboo sculptures where program attendees will experience an evening of multiple art forms coalescing to create a complete and engrossing world in a wilderness of green bamboo. The shows will take place in The Fruit, a warehouse space in downtown Durham, and the experience will take you physically through a three thousand square foot labyrinth of hanging bamboo canes filled with bamboo sculptures, photography and poetry and deliver you finally into an evening length dance concert. It will be a world of images and passions all derived from the seven canto poem, “Bamboo Wind.”
