Preservation Durham Annual Home Tour: Then & Now, Part II
Preservation Durham is thrilled to invite you to our 2023 Home Tour, where we celebrate excellence in preserving, rehabilitating, and adapting historic homes in Durham.
Building upon the success of last year’s theme, we present Then and Now: Part II, which recognizes the best private preservation projects undertaken by owners and families. Our tour is designed to showcase how preserving and adapting an historic house can enrich the lives of the people who live in them, their neighborhoods, and the Durham community as a whole.
Through the gracious homeowners who invested in historic preservation, we hope to stimulate your imaginations with the possibilities that preservation offers. We are grateful to these homeowners for allowing us to exhibit their homes to the wider community, and we also want to recognize and showcase the excellent work of the architects, designers, contractors, and craftspeople who make preservation possible. We extend our sincerest gratitude to our amazing volunteers, board members, and sponsors who worked tirelessly to make this event a success. Our home tour is our largest fundraiser of the year and relies on the passionate dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of our sponsors to support our mission. We are particularly grateful to the homeowners who opened their homes to us and allowed us to share these special places with our Durham community.
Preservation Durham has been protecting Durham’s historic assets and stories through advocacy, education, and action for almost half a century. Our home tour is an important part of fulfilling that mission. We hope that this weekend’s event will inspire Durham residents to value the stewardship of our shared architectural heritage and the stories they hold.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you on the tour!
The tour is scheduled for the weekend of May 20 and 21, from noon until 4:00pm each day. Your ticket will include both days so you can visit all the houses at your own pace. Tour-goer will receive a tour booklet describing each house and its history.
