Movie Loft presents “The Spook Who Sat by the Door”
Movie Loft marches on at Shadowbox Studio in March with a screening of the classic and controversial revolution/action movie ‘The Spook Who Sat by the Door.’ From 1973, and based on Sam Greenlee’s late ’60s novel of the same name, director Ivan Dixon’s film remains radical and pointed to this day.
The story follows Dan Freeman (Lawrence Cook), the first black man in the CIA, who after years of training moves to Chicago and turns the tables, organizing an uprising against the state. And it is all set to a tough soundtrack by Herbie Hancock.
There will be a crate of Jazz Funk greats spinning starting at 7, along with hot wieners on the grill. Movie to roll just after 8, and more tunes afterward.
