Cries of Loss and Hope: Marking a Difficult Season in Music and Word

On Friday, September 2, 2022, Duke Divinity School will host an extraordinary occasion featuring the New Caritas Orchestra, directed by Jeremy Begbie.  The evening of music and poetry will invite us to lament the past and look forward to a new day with fresh confidence in God.

This will be a concert like no other. The New Caritas Orchestra features professional musicians of Christian faith from all across the country and includes principal players from the nation’s top orchestras. Inspired by biblical cries of joy and celebration as well as cries of pain and distress, the program will feature music from Purcell to Latinx, Baroque to jazz, classical song to contemporary film.

The event will also feature an ensemble of young musicians from the Raleigh Music Collective which offers free violin, viola, and cello classes to refugee students at risk.

Tickets are required for admission but attendees can choose the amount they want to pay ($10, $25, or $50). 100% of all ticket sales will go to support local organizations working with refugees in NC.

Join us at 7pm (doors open at 6:30) on September 2, 2022 at Duke University’s Baldwin Auditorium for an extraordinary opportunity for reflection and renewal.
