ECHO: Heather Gordon and Justin Tornow Special Event @ 21c Museum Hotel
Feb 23 @ 7:00 pm

A collaboration between visual artist Heather Gordon and dancer and choreographer Justin Tornow, ECHO is part of Gordon’s series The Algorithms for Intimacy, which maps interpersonal relationships through visual and performance art. Using data sets based upon personal information like geographic locations and birthplaces, and times and dates of correspondence between close friends, Gordon creates an elaborate, reflective, geometric map covering the walls and floors of 21c Durham’s vault gallery. This transformed, intimate chamber becomes a site for a performance by Tornow whose solo dance is based on the structure and origin of an echo.

Two Months In – An Original Sketch Comedy Revue presented by Mettlesome @ The ArtsCenter
Mar 10 @ 8:00 pm

2016 nearly killed us (and did kill David Bowie, Prince and Carrie Fisher). What happens two months into the new administrations when a Tweeter-in-Chief has taken office, the NC General Assembly has the gloves off and we have a Beauty and the Beast without Angela Lansbury? These sketch comedians have a few ideas. Two Months In, takes stock of the moment and gives you a reason to laugh again. Expect appearances from: the NC General Assembly, your family, and some Ghostbusters caught between their jobs and their ethics. It’s the best and worst of a political season that will only end when the blessed apocalypse claims us all.

The show was created by an entirely Triangle based creative team including head writer/director Jack Reitz, writers Andy Lavender, Jody Oakley, Greg Guiliano, James McMahon, Sarah Spencer and Ashley Melzer. The show features performances from Caitlin Wells, Josh Rowsey, Amy Hallett, Marcus Zollicoffer, Shane Smith and Rishan Dhamija.

About Mettlesome
Mettlesome produces independent, creative, and smart projects. We amplify artists work by providing networking, mentoring, production and marketing assistance. We keep audiences entertained with the best damn theater, podcasts, art and comedy out there.

REVIVAL, A Ward Theatre Company Original @ WARD THEATRE
Apr 3 all-day

The Ward Theatre Company’s latest original creation, “Revival,” can best be described as a “cultural and musical collage.” The production is set in Appalachia circa 1959 and is performed by ten ensemble members at a fast clip with the emotional fervor of a deep woods jamboree. The Company made their Triangle debut last year with its production of “Jacuzzi,” which “INDY Week” Magazine listed as one of the ten best plays of 2016. The show runs from April 2 – May 7.
